I haven't been over there in a while and now I know why. I just tried reading some of the RU content and its a sea of pop up ads and slideshows and click bait. The slide shows are just trying to generate numbers in the visits to their site. Its unreadable. It really has become a shell of its former self.

Went back when they backed off the attacks to check it out but its back on the ban list.

It seems they either employ, or someone else employs, two or three aliases that regularly and habitually trash Rutgers in the comments section with so much consistency, it's impossible for it not to be a paid troll.

Seems like an idea of the two dopes, Manhan and Politi to engage Rutgers fans by enraging them in the comments section after every article. All those two losers need to do is play it straight but they just can't help themselves. I'll go back when they're gone.

I recently complained to Dunleavy about nj.com's heinous use of the slideshow. His response was:

They are part of the job in journalism today at many major websites. Not going anywhere. Sorry.

Half of their articles are "Top 10 Reasons X = Y" with 20 slides stuffed in there that you have to click thru.

I don't ever go there really, but when I do , there seems to be a Tropicana casino pop up. That is more than a little telling about how well they are doing. Its like a porn site.

Awful biased product, has been for a long time.

Agree on the OP's post about Ads and the slide show thing is so Stupid. Probably takes less time to write an actual article then put thise stupid things together.

Disagree about the writing though. If you Objectively look in the rear view mirror about what was written by Politi and Dunleavey etc. over the last 3-4 years it was onpoint about Flood and the previous administration before any of us.
The Truth Hurts. I laugh at people who call it a biased and crap reporting. That is like saying "nobody is allowed to dump on our program but me"

I also laugh at the people who take exception abou the reports about what things are costing. I actually enjoy reading this articles. They have shown that Football in self funding and that the other programs are the ones using the subsity etc.

I wish the Website didn't suck.

This really isn't true at all. They argued repeatedly for retaining Flood up until maintaining that position would have been beyond ridiculous when the scandals broke in 2015.

One of the many clear examples of this was cheering on the Flood extension in 2014.

When I see a slideshow, I just leave. It is not worth the effort to fight through, especially with the pop-up ads exploding with every click. Even if you wanted to try and read the content, they make it almost impossible. I understand why slide shows exist and realize other sites use them as well, but I can't think of another site that uses them to the extent NJ.com does. Literally more than 2/3 of their 'articles' are now in this format. Try to access it from a mobile device and it is even worse. I have pretty much given up on them as a place to visit, solely because of these issues.

Sounds like he was reassuring himself with that quote.

Yes, journalism demands you express things in photos and one-sentence captions. It's not shallow click-bait trash at all.
