Was just noticing in another thread that a member who joined in 2004 had amassed, 4 posts....and now has 2 likes.

I wonder how many other Lurkers have been reading the board for years and never posted.

Well, with the MI invasion of multiple states including our beloved NJ....and the on going saga that is State Penn / the legacy of Joe Pa...I am interested to see if some of you will draw the cyber curtain to share your thoughts / say "Hello".

Thanks

My post count was wiped out when this board got a makeover. Not making any excuses but here I am.

You're probably referring to me. My story is an interesting one I guess. I wouldn't really call myself a lurker, more of an absentee member.
I started off on the Scarletfan.com board when it first started. I've got the t-shirt to prove it. Back then I was RahRahRU (not to be confused with another at the time, RURahRah.) I signed up at the same time as my brother, Onthe Banks. Anyway, I remember I had a vicious argument with someone or many someones, I don't remember, over something about Rikki Cook. That's how long ago it was. I decided, that was it, I'm quitting the board and in my mind I did. I stopped visiting for about a whole year or so. Unfortunately in the meantime I lost or forgot my password to RahRahRU. Rather than try to get it back (which I really wish I had now) I created the The Original Rah account but I vowed to myself to not ever post again. And I didn't but I also didn't stay around because at that time there were still a lot of heated fights going on and I was afraid I was going to break my vow and get involved again. So, I only visited here once in awhile on special occasions such as signing day or when we changed coaches, etc. to catch up on the news. Long story short, the hiring of Coach Ash and all that has followed has made me so joyous that I can't stay away any longer. It appears that for the most part the members (including myself maybe) have matured and the discussions don't appear as heated as in the past and so it is safe to resume posting again. And that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Not to worry! I had a few run-ins as well but if you don't voice your opinions from time to time you lose respect.
The Flood years drove me crazy as the offense was less than stellar. But I am hopeful that Coach Ash will gather the correct recruits over the next 3 years and make the Scarlet Knights the force that we need to be.

I think this year may be tough, but I still think there will be a few surprises as we go bowling!

Every site on the rivals network keeps its own post count. Your post count here is for the Rutgers site only. If you go to Nebraska site or BWI or wherever and post it will show up as post #1.

When I post on BWI, it will show up as like post #10, but join date 2011.

SG, I must admit I'm surprised you like Ash. He certainly didn't do much for Razorbacks defense the year he was there.

98% lurker. I really enjoy the board- there are some very funny posters here. This will be my 20th year with season tickets in section 124 and have been reading the board in it's various iterations amost as long.

We have had a LOT of issues over the past several years. I think Coach Ash and Bret Bielima just weren't on the same page coaching-wise. No big deal.

Arkansas and Rutgers both always seem to be regarded as middle of the road in conference standings. I am ready for BOTH to break out and have a great season! Unfortunately, I don't see it happening anytime soon for either team.

Arkansas needs Ole Miss to quit cheating, Rutgers needs Ohio state to stop as well.

I wish absolutely nothing but the best for the Scarlet Knights! I may even make another game THIS SEASON!

Rah, Your latest post was worth about 5000 posts.

Eh.... Let's get two games into the season and see if you feel the same way.

Heck, just wait till our first offensive series when Laviano or Rettig runs onto the field. There will be at least 30 different threads about how QB xyz is the worst ever and how could Ash let him start.

Gator, RU a Gainesville grad? I bleed Scarlet but my youth was spent in orange and blue.

Why yes I am! I bleed Scarlet, Orange and Blue too - undergrad at RU during the Schiano heyday of the mid-naughts, and gradschool at UF during the Tebow/Urban era.

By the way...thanks to all those who gave me a "like"! I almost have more likes than posts haha. Though I must admit, 2 posts on the same day has exhausted me. Lurkers gonna lurk, I 'spose

Yes....it was your post in another thread that lead to all this.

SYNERGY in action!

This board provides hours of entertainment for me on a daily basis but I seldom post......lurker here

I am definitely a lurker. My wife attended Rutgers. I grew up 5 minutes from RU but graduated college from Saint Peters in Jersey City. I moved away from Jersey and ended up in Rockford, Illinois. My wife and I always wanted to move back home to be closer to family and friends. Fortunately, 2 and a half years ago we moved back home to Jersey and live in western Hunterdon County. I am a football season ticket holder and try to attend a few road games also. We are so proud to be back home and support our state university!

I like to watch to see which recruits have signed on, which new coach is going to be our Savior...and steer clear of the pissing contests and the sky is falling threads when we lose a game. Hey, this is also the best source of local weather information when a winter storm is approaching!

I'm liking all Lurkers. But especially LIKE your FIRST post....and you drop a Dr. Stangelove reference (Peter Sellers / G. C. Scott).[smoke]

Nice!

Thanks MO!

After completing my first post following 12+ years of lurking, I'm reminded of the feeling I had the morning after my junior prom....If you get my drift.

As background I'm the son of a Loyal son. Both my wife and I are RU Alums with degrees in chemistry. My join date is the day my daughter was accepted to Ernst Mario. Both my daughter and younger son have since graduated EMSOP with their Pharm D's.

My first RU FB game memory is the '69 Centennial Game vs. Princeton. My greatest FB disappointment remains the loss to Alabama at the Meadowlands.

We've been to every bowl except Toronto and Detroit...despite our devotion to the FB program, the wife prefers to take in warm weather in bowl season.

I've haven't felt this optimistic for both RU football and men's basketball since '76. I even occasionally allow myself to feel that a trip to Pasadena over New Year's Day may be in the cards sometime during my lifetime.
