Long time reader of the board but just don't post. Section 128 for over 20 years.
----------------HEY WHEEZER!!!
How you been? Hoping THIS is the year we return to the halcyon days of 2006-2009
Hmmm....what were our Halcyon days??

I definitely read more than I post.
Been lurking for a few years. You all seem so know so much. I work with Piscataway Mike so was getting a lot of info from him. Started posting more now. I think four or five in the last few weeks. Didn't go to Rutgers (UD, go blue hens). But Rutgers is the local team and wanted to be a part of it. Started watching them year Schiano was hired. My kids love the games and are junior knights.
Need a reason to come out. Coach Ash and what he is doing seems to be the reason. Was just noticing in another thread that a member who joined in 2004 had amassed, 4 posts....and now has 2 likes.
I wonder how many other Lurkers have been reading the board for years and never posted.
Well, with the MI invasion of multiple states including our beloved NJ....and the on going saga that is State Penn / the legacy of Joe Pa...I am interested to see if some of you will draw the cyber curtain to share your thoughts / say "Hello".
Thanks

NIce! NJIT grad here, class of '99Long time lurker from the previous millennium...grew up in Piscataway, two older sisters RU grads from the early 80's...first memory of RU was attending a basketball game in the barn in the late 70's...attended many football games and basketball games then at the RAC and was just fascinated that sometimes games in my backyard were actually on TV...listened to most if not all football and basketball games on WCTC...thought Bruce Johnson was 'the man'...I was also a Courier News paperboy and got whatever RU content was available from them and the Sunday Ledger, which for those that were from that era can attest was not much...graduated NJIT in 1990 (hence my creative handle) and moved out of state...remember the Exit109 site in the late 90's and was motivated to visit daily by the fact that at that time that community was the only place to find RU specific content...there was a poster that would post a summary of the daily news links, which was a big reason for getting hooked into checking this board daily...I not only appreciate the sports related threads, but all of the OT content as well...have visited restaurants, taken vacations, looked into various home improvements just from lurking here...not personally vested to the point of arguing which is why I tend not to post, but this board is one of the first things I check each day for news and entertainment...
Another lurker lurking here. Class of '75, moved to Calif in '80 and became disconnected from Rutgers and Jersey. I've always been a college football fan but didn't pay much attention to RU for obvious reasons. In '06 I happened to watch the Louisville game and was hooked. I haven't missed a game either on TV, or radio since, and more recently made it back to HPSS for a few games, and even talked my wife into taking a take a trip to Columbus.
I did make a few posts during the Flood years, I felt compelled to weigh in, but they still kept him on the payroll anyway (I don't want to bring up old wounds)
I am very excited about the upcoming season and the new staff, and am certain the team will be better conditioned, motivated and prepared. I will be in Seattle and also planning on making it to Piscataway for a game.
Thank you to the posters who help me stay connected to my Jersey roots and the entertainment the board provides. I don't know how I would get thru a work day without you.
(ps: the pictures do help .)
Do you attend any of the LA or OC functions? The Harp Pub in Costa Mesa is where the OC group gathers to watch football games.
Just wondering.

PS I came to OC in 1968 immediately after graduating from RU ....to become a GA in Psych at Long Beach State. My first wife got into UCLA / Long Beach & because we couldn't afford the $$ / the geography was bad she attended CSULB, graduated with a double major (English / Journalism) / was CEO of her our AD firm (had dealings with DreamWorks). I finally got a Masters in something (MPA). My oldest daughter got into UCLA / graduated with honors, got her masters from CSULB / has been an adjunct professor there for over 5 years. My youngest child (Moette Jr.) got into UC-Riverside / CSULB....and most likely attend the latter.
I've seen more than one poster who seems to have been a member for a while, yet with a low post count. I just assumed the dates they joined were wrong, and they were relatively new members. I also go into exile for extended periods occasionally, so I may not know members who have just a few years on the board. Was just noticing in another thread that a member who joined in 2004 had amassed, 4 posts....and now has 2 likes.

Old-timers, we were here before the likes arrived. I'm pretty sure I'd have 10-15 more likes if they'd had them when I first joined:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:Lurkers are all cool- glad to see some of you emerge. Question- Lurkers have very low post counts but I have noticed a high "like" count vs their post numbers. What do you call posters with extremely high post counts with very low "like" count? In some cases we say trolls but in others, you know they are really true fans but just don't get likes. What should be an appropriate term for these guys?

Long story short, the hiring of Coach Ash and all that has followed has made me so joyous that I can't stay away any longer. It appears that for the most part the members (including myself maybe) have matured and the discussions don't appear as heated as in the past and so it is safe to resume posting again.
Rah, Your latest post was worth about 5000 posts.
Eh.... Let's get two games into the season and see if you feel the same way.
Heck, just wait till our first offensive series when Laviano or Rettig runs onto the field. There will be at least 30 different threads about how QB xyz is the worst ever and how could Ash let him start.
Me, member since 2010 lurking since 2006. Not a RU grad but have many friends who have. Was just noticing in another thread that a member who joined in 2004 had amassed, 4 posts....and now has 2 likes.
