In this case I agree. But many such cases the outrage over perceived "racism" is aimed at broad groups.. all police, all white people, etc.
Here's another way to think on it.. you went broad with "majority race" because one person labelled this as PC run amok.

When you rationally consider:
(1.) the previous reasonable caricature Ortiz bobble-head (which the Boston Red Sox President Sam Kennedy probably has in his office)
(2.) and then look at this exaggerated big-white-lipped bobble-head
(3.) bear in mind the stigma / insulting history of the era of Blackface Minstrels
(4.) pause for a moment to recall that while the hideous reputation as tone-deaf racists may be far in the Red Sox past - it is clearly a label that they do not wish to inadvertently refresh & have re-applied by their own hand.
(5.) got a personal opinion from David Ortiz (Big Papi - not pleased - not at all)
after considering all of this - no rational person in the ultimate decision making position of the Red Sox organization would have gone ahead -

After seeing what the production version looked like, there's no question it should have been scrapped. But they would have been much better off just to say something like: "These bobbleheads did not stand up to our professional standards, so we've asked the manufacturer to remake them."

What is wrong with the Red Sox deciding to limit their own speech because it would be discourteous and unwelcome to those who find minstrel imagery inappropriate? Where is the line where in their act of good taste is an act of cowardess and your refusal to welcome me as a neighbor to your tailgate is not cowardly.
