The two top honors in the American League went to graduates of New Jersey high schools: Cy Young winner Rick Porcello and MVP Mike Trout.

Maybe the best pitcher and position player ever to come out of NJ high schools. I saw Porcello matchup against Andrew Del Colle of Newark Academy in the ECT, the best HS game I ever saw, and Porcello's performance the best HS pitching performance I ever saw. I've been watching NJ HS games since the late 60s. Del Colle was fabulous also, hurt his arm at BC. Porcello from Morristown to played at SHP, they have a great HS program and coaching staff there.

Never got the pleasure of seeing Trout at Millville HS, since he played way down SNJ, but knew all about him.

Porcello is a Chester, not Morristown, NJ native. Todd Frazier, a future NY Yankees player, is not a bad major leaguer, either. Amazing that Rutgers baseball recruiting is always so ho-hum. Hard to imagine that Nebraska fields a better team than Rutgers. Except that the Huskers coach is Darin Erstad and our's is the former Wagner College coach.

Don Necombe is easily the best pitcher from NJ. Porcello has pasted Al Leiter.
Not Hall of Fame worthy for his career but Johnny Vander Meer pitched 2 back to back no hitters.

Nebraska is in Creighton territory that alone draws great prospects

Have been trying to figure out if Trout follows college football, if he does I would suspect he would consider himself a Penn State fan. He is from Millville and is an Eagles fan, grew up a huge Phillies fan.

I'm a Yankees fan and there's no way in hell Todd Frazier ends up here with all our immediate pitching needs

Nebraska has the best baseball facilities in the B1G. Until RU built theirs they had the only large baseball/softball only training facility in the conference. They've made it to the CWS 3 times since 2000.
