OT: Ray Donovan

Mr. Screw and I binge watched seasons 1 & 2 in June so we were all caught up for the start of season 3.

Great season so far. They're doing more with the Voight character. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Enjoyed the first season, especially Jon Voight. Hilarious at times. Only caught fragments of the 2nd season.

Will they be replaying the first episode after Thursday? I get back to So. Cal tomorrow...and LOVE RD.

BTW Voight's love interest is an RU alum.

PS Only show that beats RD is House of Cards!

Ray Donovan is excellent.... Its basically a mashup of The Sopranos and Entourage

I remembered this thread and the first 4 Season 3 episodes have been on the VCR. Finally caught-up.

I really liked S1 -- but stopped watching 1/2-way through season 2.

I agree with those that say - it's great cast/acting, but suffers from relatively poor writing/stories.

I think S3 has started strong - much more in-line with S1. I'll keep watching (at least for a while).

Better than almost everything on TV right now -- -but far from a "all time great"....

The plots are dying already in this season. Dexter and the really great shows die in the 6-7 seasons due to weak story line.

With House of Cards, Ray Donovan best two shows currently on. Great show, good cast and I think the story lines are still very good!

I give it a yes vote, not sure about the Roger Ebert reviews on here, but i like it. Good summer series and as somebody said Ray's bad-ass,

I've watched this show since the beginning. There are things I love about it but this year the story line seems very weak. Many times last night I said, really? They may need to find some new writers. Though it may just be the show has run it's course.

And this year they have Ian McShane of Deadwood fame. Can't wait for him to call someone a cork sucker.. Also never knew he was so short.

I must be watching a different show... please remember it's a new story line attempting to be developed for the cast after two big seasons...Schreiber is very good ....Voight is great ...

I'm waiting for Ray to hope in the sack with Finney's daughter

Finney's daughter is played by Katie Holmes , previously married to Tom Cruise obviously. She seems a lot thinner now.
A good friend of mine is an executive producer for both Ray Donovan and House of Lies , previously was exec Producer on Californication.
Interestingly, his buddy Eddie Bianchi (I've met him a few times w my buddy) has directed some episodes this season, he previously directed episodes on favorite Deadwood, a show I loved.
