OT: Restaurant suggestions near Wall Twp

Are you still in Wall? Jean?
I'm in Rumson now, but will be moving back to Wall/Squan/Heights once my youngest is through high school.
Jean is back in town after a long time in Bergen County. I recently moved to Boston area after years in Westfield.

Just to revisit the Mill fire 30 years ago. I'm telling a coworker earlier about you guys being volunteer firemen at that time when a customer near by says "The Mill fire? I was a volunteer back then!" Small freekin world huh? Didn't say which department he was with.

I have newspaper stories in my scrapbook about that fire. Will try to get them uploaded and posted here. A lot of great memories from that fire and my time on South Wall Fire and Community First Aid. Oddly, don't think I've been to the Mill for a meal. Will have to change that.

Knight Shift and I disagree on Scarborough Fair. LOL

The Squan Tavern people always give me the vibe that they are doing ME a favor by being there. Not the waitresses or bartenders but their bosses.

The Mill has the best bartender on the Jersey Shore. Worth the visit just for that.

St. Stephen's has music almost every night (never a cover). And a fireplace with a nice bar.

And Kelly's is a classic if you've never been. Same thing with Pete and Elda's in Neptune City.

I enjoyed my burger the last time I went to Harpoon Willie's.

Haven't heard a mention for The Cabin yet on 33. Not far at all from where you'll be. VERY good burger. Good selection of beers and they usually have a guy (or two) with a guitar.

Same can be said for Darcy's in Bradley Beach (BIG soccer place - if you're into that) and Harrigan's in Sea Girt when they both have their "special" burgers on their menus. And both have a nice beer menu.

For Italian, we like La Dolce Vita on Ocean Avenue in Belmar. But their seasonal liquor license is done until the Spring so bring your own.

You been to Meemom's for breakfast yet in Kmart plaza? Tried getting in there a few weeks ago and it was an hour wait.

My boys and nephew (who drives) have been there. They loved it. But agree on the wait. Way too long for me.

Next time you're (or anybody) in the neighborhood try On Third Café and Coffee House in Spring Lake. Used to be the old "Who's on Third?"

VERY good for breakfast and they do a nice dinner on the weekends.

Will give that a shot. I think I am still unofficially on the rolls of Goodwill Hose Company right around the corner on Washington Ave.

LOL. Thanks but my best days are in the rear view mirror. I've cut back on my hours and rarely work the restaurant side. I'm more than happy working banquets and weddings. Just need to remind them once in a while 5 in a weekend is a bit much on the old legs and back lol.

Glad to hear you liked it.

I was there a week and a half ago. Had the Chicken Tyler which is my favorite thing to order. It was great as usual.

I work at one but never recommend it in open forum because I think it's bad form. Right on the border of Wall and Spring Lake Hghts for the last 76 years.

Maybe someone else will lol.

I'm not into fancy and needless frills. My favorite spot is the Squan Tavern. Also partial to Harrigans on Rt 71.

The Mill. Beautiful place, and better food.

my favorite place in Wall:

Wall is pretty big, but depending on where (and WELL worth the ride), The Poached Pear on Arnold Avenue in Pt. Pleasant Beach. Excellent food; it is BYOB, so if you want wine buy before you go.

I was not particularly impressed with the poached pear. dessert was very good. everything else was just OK.
