OT: RIP Bob Newhart

He was great although I don't think he ever appeared in Batman.

Those telephone bits...I loved him on the original Bob Newhart show, which I caught mainly in re-runs. The group therapy sessions were classic.

Him and Rickles, great friends, were so funny on their appearances on Johnny Carson. The great ones are disappearing

He was in his 90s. That's a great run but bound to happen.

No joke. I thought he died awhile ago. Was there a false rest in peace about 10 years ago?
His presentation was a big part of his great success. Great comedian.

IMDB doesn't list his 1961 TV show on NBC,the Bob Newhart Variety Show.
I used to watch it right after Top Cat.
Both shows lasted only one season.

RIP. I was a huge fan of Bob Newhart. Loved both shows. He was great in every role (even Elf).

A truly great comedian who now joins his lifes leading lady. married for 60 years, Virginia "Ginnie" Quinn Newhart
RIP Bob .
The "Hi Bob" game was one of the ways some enjoyed your show , which was a tribute to how much people enjoyed your comedy .
Jack Benny and then you,Bob Newhart, were Kings of deadpan comedy in which few, in an,y have the talent for .

I never "got him" - didn't find him funny.

He was like straight man playing a straight man for another straight man - like he should have made a trio with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. He could have been an adopted Smothers Brother with even less talent than Dickie. Maybe also Abbott and Costello and Newhart

Not surprising. I imagine emotionless serial killer types must have a difficult time processing extra dry humor.

Ah I see you take your Newhart seriously.
Gino Vannelli too?

Luckily I always had good taste in TV and didn't bother with most of it - still don't
