For those of you that work or visit Downtown Newark.
The new Barnes & Noble recently opened, 42 Halsey St, next to the Whole Foods.

It has tons of RU gear stocked.

If you are going to the Devils game today, you can check it out pre or post game.
It's open 9-5 today.

I walked there by foot on lunch break but I believe there is a free parking lot attached (if you shop at one of the stores).
Call the store and ask if you're interested.

The Rutgers Newark campus needs a major overhaul. NJIT really built up their campus and RU Newark looks like complete crap next to it. Besides the law school all the buildings are Scott Hall style ugly.

It is interesting that Newark now has a Whole Foods I just think Newark will be much more resistant to gentrification than places like Hoboken.

I'll have to take a walk over the bridge someday. It didn't hit me that they would have things other than books.

The baseball team needs a new place for their games as demolition begins soon at Bears Stadium.

That's the plan...but we'll see if it actually goes through. These deals fall apart all the time. (RU-Newark Baseball alum here)

The Newark campus is actually building up nicely. They broke ground on a new honors dorm on Washington St. They are in the process of building a new building on University Ave. They finished in the Fall of 2016 the new dorm building on Washington that looks stunning. And of course they have the wonderful business school that is 6-7 years old on the corner of Broad and Washington. Alumni Field is also built up incredibly. I would actually argue that RU's campus is better than NJITs.

I always root for Newark, and always assume whatever is supposed to happen won't be the godsend they hope it is. But even a cynic would have to see that good things have happened, are happening and are planned to happen in that city. We can hope.

Having a vibrant area around the universities should have helped Newark a long time ago.
