OT: Rutgers Honors College Campus Tours--Summer 2018

Thanks for posting the link..With only one session per week, they don't make it easy. We have interest because dad and granddad attended RC. But my son will probably end up elsewhere. Top 5% in his class and liking warmer climes..

Are you Rutgers College Class of 1970 and have a senior in HS?

Are you inferring top 5% of class is too good for RU? It's getting much more difficult to gain admission.

Snow of the roof.. fire in the furnace.. warmer climes indeed. Congratulations.

That is great news, knightshift. For those interested, keep checking. Sometimes they are more sessions. There are also a lot of tours coming up for Engineering.Check soe.rutgers.edu.

They filled up too fast. Our son is definitely interested in the Honors College, and we think that he will most likely be admitted, but it is unfortunate we have not been able to tour the Honors College. We don't exactly have the time to be continually checking either. If he is admitted, we will take a look, I guess.

Knight Shift - Since acceptance to the Honors College is detemrined from the applicant pool for each school, there is really no need to go prior to being accepted. It's not like you need to apply to the Honors College. I took my daughter on the tour before she even applied to Rutgers. She was not overly impressed. However, once she was admitted she was invited to an admitted students' reception. It focused on the substantive goals of the Honors College program. I believe that it also included a tour (which we skipped since we had already toured the facility). I believe that the reception, in large part, influenced her decision to attend the Honors College.

Thank you. We have a busy summer scheduled visiting 10-12 other schools. Even without touring the Honors College, my son was impressed. When we did the Scarlet Tour last fall, someone in development set us up with a meeting two Honors College seniors majoring in engineering and computer science. That was very helpful.

This thread has been very helpful. I guess we need to set up separate tours with each college, probably A&S and Biological and Environmental Science. I hope this can be done in 1 day since we don't live in NJ. If he gets accepted to the HC, we can do a separate visit .
