RU defeats #9 and 9-time national champion Johns Hopkins. Improves to 8-2 overall, 1-0 in the B1G. Huge because there are only 6 teams and thus 5 games, and the top 4 make the B1G tournament. Keep it up! Next game is Next Sunday at RU vs. Michigan
Didn't want to post anything during the game. This is our biggest win in over a decade. I think we got Hopkins at the right time- this was their third game in the week and their head coach is out. Even so, we looked faster, stronger, and our playmaking was incredible.
Lots of guys to list, but it starts with Alleyne in goal. Really happy for the kid. He came up HUGE when he was needed most. Even with the deficiencies Hop was working under, they are a dangerous team. Their recruiting is always off the charts. Even so, they got steamrolled. You have to be very, very impressed with what RU put on the field today. A few breakdowns on D, but it was a near flawless performance. Great to see our EMO go 3 for 3. That is big. That unit has struggled all year, but today they put it together, which will bode well moving forward.
Big one next Sunday with Michigan coming to town who lost to Maryland by 1 today and could have won. Without their two best players. That game just got a lot tougher. That is for tomorrow though. Tonight we celebrate this one.

I won't say fluke, but there was a lot going on that game that I won't say, but if we played them 10x, we win 7 or 8 of them I am convinced.
Princeton was our wtf game. That says a lot about where the program is now and is trending.
I went to the Princeton Game and RU just didn't look like they were in sync that night, definitely looked like that performance was the exception rather than the rule for this season. Great win tonight! It is a glimpse of what this program could be on a consistent basis. If RU can continue to get this lax thing moving in the right direction, then we will be a dominant program.
Was at the game in 1990 where we won at Hopkins. I believe Tom Hayes was the coach then.
Alleyne was a stud, as was the attack. Big ups to Christian Scarpello and the rest of the d mids. Scarpello had a goal and assist, from the midfield. That's impressive. His goal was a great one, and very timely.
We let our d mids play offense, which I like. That's a problem for other teams because they are getting good at it.

We have beaten them a few times but not many. That was the last. And yes, that team was led by Coach Hayes.
My son (Ridge HS lax player) was at last nights game with his club team (BBL) and the crowd is the largest he has seen at an RU lax game ever (he's been going to games the last several years). There were a lot of HS and club teams in attendance which bodes well for the future of the program. Just need to play consistent and avoid the WTF type Princeton game to keep the momentum going and hopefully get an NCAA bid.
If this was football, this is basically Rutgers Football beating Ohio Sate. Amazing victory.

Happy for Christian. My son played on a travel team that CS was a coach for a few years ago. A really good kid.
I think it more because soccer doesn't like lax ripping up the turf, even though Ron Yurcak was a lacrosse player. Go figure.
We are undefeated at home. Let's keep it going. I'm guessing the atmosphere was electric last. I haven't seen the team that juiced in a long time.
Yes, watching the local sports news (WJZ) here in Baltimore I did not see any report of the game. Although they did have stories for Towson and Maryland where both teams won. They (Baltimore local news) seem to only

Was tempted a bit to post our 8-3 half time lead, but didn't want to jinx anything. Very superstitious as an athlete & still am to this day re: sports. Never believed in celebrating anything until it was done. Great win for the boys. Watched some of their practice on wednesday & spoke to a few of them. They looked confident & loose to me. Spoke to Coach Brecht for the first time. Very down to earth. I liked him. This is overall a young club. Have a real good feeling going forward. Hope to make the Michigan game with my grandson. Go RU.
