Very impressive. Great job by the staff. A couple of the players have absolutely sick credentials.
also it is a national recruiting class with only about 1/2 the girls from NJ. This is how the power teams do it.
The ladies return a lot of really good starters next season, including the best goal keeper in the nation Casey Murphy and the big boot of Colby Ciarocca.
I believe Casey is taking the year off the play for the U-21 (or U-23) team. That being said, IIRC, we have had a few very highly ranked classes lately.
Agreed, though I believe that the strongest players in the class are from the NJ area. But all good.
You might want to post on the soccer board too. I'm sure the women's soccer fans would be interested.
Know some of these girls and have seen them play. Whitley and Visco are the stars of this class and they're both from central Jersey.
Swaby from CT also is an All-American. Very impressive class.
This season may be a transition year with Reed, Skroski graduated and possibly Murphy missing season for National Team. A lot of great players to replace on defense and it will need time to gel back there.
I love bringing in a forward who is 5'7" and a sprint champion. I am envisioning all the problems that will cause for the defenders on our opponents.

Would have been a HUGE asset in that Final 4 game against Penn State. We simply couldn't get anyone in open space against that, in their end, that night.
Agreed - that was our biggest weakness, I think - lack of serious speed in space up top and PSU had some girl who could fly and caused serious havoc for us...
Very excited about the future of women's soccer at RU - hopefully, like wrestling, we will start to build a dynasty. Hope we can catch and surpass Penn State. We need success stories in the B1G to build momentum for all our athletics.
Sad they we have to play catch up to PSU in wrestling, girls soccer, even men's ice hockey. Would't surprise me if the PSU girls basketball team surpasses Vivian this year
They've been ahead of us, in most sports, since joining the B1G. Just like UConn when they joined the BE. Fred Grunninger, as nice as the guy was to me when I worked for RU, made arguably the dumbest move in the history of college athletics when he said "no" to the Big East way back when (regardless of the Pitt/Penn State all-football conference circumstances...). It absolutely killed any chance our athletic department had, for 3 decades+, of becoming a good one all-around.
He was a frat member of Zeta Psi and we all were baffled by him being selected as a AD. My recollection a bauffon or chimp with no back bone

As far as PSU is concerned, their football program has been raking in money and prestige since the late 1960's. That is a huge advantage for them.
Women's soccer players? Your post referenced the PSU raking in dollars in football since 60s (true). More top ranked players would be great. Stanford just hauled in a nice class out here on the West Coast. Recently spoke to a former Stanford player who begrudgingly admitted that Rutgers Women's soccer was making a showing recently between Carli and the Final Four. Was nice to see that they did not like they were being joined in elite company of top women's soccer programs. :sunglasses:
Does anybody have a place to see where NJ HS players signed? I tried the site referenced above but I don't know how accurate it is. I looked at profiles of some girls I know have offers and none were listed? Is this just a first signing period? I'm new to soccer recruiting..

When we are earning an equal share, our department will take a giant step forward as a whole. However, to be truly competitive across the board, it is going to take donations from every fan of the school.
1. Alexis Palladino was a long time commitment from PDA but is was not part of this announcement.
2. Transfers: In women's soccer you can transfer in and play immediately - so like ciorrocca last year came from Vandy and started for us right away. RU may have some more transfers coming...

No, I don't think it's possible as my understanding is she has been a top player in the state for 4 years. To be honest, if this girl isn't a multi offer kid I can't imagine what is. I will send you an IM and you will see a notification in the little envelope next to your handle. Thanks
Ferreira committed then decommitted after her injury to explore IVY possibilities and is now healthy and has re-committed to RU again after just exploring all her options since she committed as a sophomore. More than likely she will play in the middle at RU for 4 years starting in the 2017 season...
