OT: Seton Hall vs St. John’s at MSG

If Powell plays that game, he would get his but RU would run him ragged and he'd be building a house in crunch time... if there would even be a crunch time.

And who else would step up? They all had their chance, none were particularly effective against a defense like RU's.

All that matters is that RU won and SHU lost. Hopefully RU’s beating of SHU kicks our butts into gear similar to what you guys did for Carmelo and Cuse :)

In that case, you are welcome.

Powell eclipsed 2k points.

He picked up the game ball after the game to keep as a souvenir

Some jerky St John's assustant coach goes running after him to get the ball back.

Hopefully Powell was able to keep the ball

Powell can play , no doubt about that. Where does the NBA rate him?

You know what would be awesome. You all can state that you beat the 2020 NCAA champions. Are goals are much higher. The view is better from the front!

If that helps you sleep better, knock yourself out.
I never lose sleep. As I said the day of the game here that was a real ass kicking. And I hope you do well in the B10. Just pointing out that that game will be noted by third parties as played without Powell. If you feel better imagining he was ok and playing then have at it.

I don't sleep as well as I did 20 years ago... :)

I thought it was a bigger loss that your big man was injured and you hadn't adjusted to playing without him yet. We were on fire that night and I think we had your number even if Powell played the second half in full health. I am glad he recovered and is playing again. I never want to see anyone injured.

It is funny how it is in both our team's best interests this season for both teams to finish strong this year.

Personally I don’t use it as an excuse. We got the you know what kicked out of us. My point was only that it will carry that asterisk. The last two games prove fairly definitively that both the team and MP
Can come back from deficits. So who knows.

I think SHU would have made a run at us in the second half but we would have hung on, had Powell been ok. No one knows

Some very good college players don’t play in the NBA. Who knows where he ends up.

Powell unfortunately is a bit of a tweener as an nba player. Not a pure PG and too small to match up defensively on nba 2G’s. But he’s a truly phenomenal college player.

For selection and seeding purposes, it is a quad 1 win for us. There is some minimal value in it being a top 10 win vs a top 20 win. But I don't know that the difference is significant.
Isn't there still a selection committee? Having been a team that beat a top 10 team, the human side of the committee will view it more favorably.

It will always be a win with an asterisk. Your Roger Maris moment.

did Powell’s bump on the head have anything to do with the beat down on the boards or how soft your bigs looked.

No 3rd parties will remember who missed the game. Just like no one will recall we were without Baker when we won at Nebraska by 17 and against PSU.

And no one felt sorry for us when we lost to freaking NW without Omaruji last year. And I don't see any asterisks next to NW's win either.

Sure. I said there is some value in it. But I don't know how much.

If SH finishes the year as BE champ and ranked 8, instead of finishing the year ranked 19, does that mean that Rutgers gets a 5 seed instead of a 7 seed? Probably not. But if we're right on the line between 6 and 7 seed, maybe it pushes us over the line.

Right now SH is a very good win for Rutgers. Unless SH goes into freefall, it will be considered a very good win at the end of the season. I suspect that where SH sits on the spectrum of top teams will have a very small impact on Rutgers resume. So I'm not going to care about it. I will care that Rutgers continue to win, and get at least one more road win, and avoid bad losses to Neb and NW. I'm even going to care that St Bon continues to win enough to become a Quad 2 loss instead of Quad 3 loss for Rutgers. Because I expect all those things are more important than the difference between SH being Top 10 or Top 20.

Seton Hall will be a tough team in the NCAA Tournament because they have a high power offense with scorers at many positions .There recent wins on the road enhance their resume for a seeding in the 2-4 range.

I’d say that this team was absolutely unprepared to carry on without him on that day.

Me thinketh you are a tad bit sensitive

That's probable

However, Rutgers was the much better team that day.

even if MP didn't leave the game I still think RU wins it.

But, SHU was only down 13 at halftime.

The same deficit they were down at halftime yesterday at SJU.

The bottom line to me is that RU won over SHU, a team that many of its posters said RU was a laughing stock and would once again be in the basement of the BIG. They were mocking and laughing at RU for a long time and stating they had nothing to gain by playing RU. Well at this time I believe the 3 most contributing members of SHU are Powell, Gill & McKnight and all 3 of them will not be back next season. I believe RU is in a much better place moving forward.

Willards half time adjustment was pressuring them. (And he got on their asses, as any coach would.) We immediately scored the first few points after halftime and the game normalized.

Re our game, you guys jumped us from the getgo. I said pregame if you hit threes at a better clip than normal you will give us trouble. The opening three then the alley pop were the perfect start to get the rac going.

You won this game. That isnt changing. If we beat the 76 team minus dabney, with sellers getting a concussion 4 minutes into the game, some if us would still brag on it, and some of you would explain it away. All we can be sure of is the cb outcome as it was played.

Good luck. With no great teams out there, the tourney may be even crazier than normal. I have been a bigger geo fan than alit if you guys. Is he still hurt?

face facts they were unprepared with or without him. You were out hustled and out muscled. That has nothing to do with Powell

Myles Powell could have never fell down and so played in the second half and scored 19 more points than he did ... and SHU still would have lost. Rutgers is just better than Seton Hall anyway you slice it, period.
