A generation ago, high school teams appeared in eight to 12 games, depending on the state. Now it’s 10 to 16 games.
The Ivy League plays a 10-game football season, while Nescac colleges play eight games. Neither allows members to send football teams to the postseason. Athletic departments at the elite institutions of these conferences know too many football games mean more concussions and more distraction from education. Why are the nation’s high schools losing sight of this?
I am huge FB fan and believer in FB building a young man. I want my sons to play, but not 16 games. I played 12 to a State Championship. It was enough. 16? PLAYERS ARE NOT MACHINES. GREED IS GOING TO KILL THIS SPORT.
