OT- Strange story of Cedar Grove's firing of successful FB coach

One of the best coaches in NJ IMO. CG did same with its very successful Girls Softball Coach, Rob Stern ( now OC for Augie Hoffman at St Joes) a few years ago.

If year to year contract, my guess is BOE just doesn't want the headache of being sued by its employees. Its not like FB generates a ton of revenue at this level, particularly the small school level CG is at.

Holy slander lawsuit, Batman!!

That is unless it is true.
Yeah, and the guy posted the comment from his Facebook page. Dumb. It's kind of like getting pulled over by the cops and screaming about all of the injustices you suffered when there were no injustices.

Part of the article says: "The Board of Ed did not follow the proper guidelines regarding notification to the coaches who had HIB (Harassment, Bullying and Intimidation) charges leveled against them, and there was a complete trampling of due process for all the coaches involved"

Reads to me the coach won his suit for procedural reasons, not because the bullying didn't happen. If the BOE believes that the coach or coaches either bullied, or allowed the bullying to happen, regardless of being able to prove it in a court of law, it is not surprising to me they would let him go. In a case like this, especially at HS or lower levels, success on the field typically is seen as far less important than the way the adult interacts with the kids.

I heard what the "bullying" was from a person in town in CG. Apparently there was a player that asked a lot of questions. They taped a question mark to his helmet and called him "the riddler".

I heard from someone that if his playing time were satisfactory to his parents, this wouldn't have been an issue.

Kids are much more sensitive than when i was a kid. And I'm not that old...........

Ed's a close personal friend of the family. I'm gonna do some digging. Disappointing news though.

Been involved in softball for 16 years. Not a big Rob Stern fan (not based on the firing) in general. I don't know specifics of firing so won't speculate.

That sounds endearing. Everyone had nicknames from my town. If you didn't have a nickname it was a problem because no one cared enough to give you one.

I was part of a 10 win team as a coach. Entire staff didn't get rehired next yeat. Politics happen.
