It was to a play for a class. I am guessing they probably went to a play in Richmond or DC for the day.
God forbid on the off chance that these student athletes were doing actual college student things with the university they attend.
Someone mentioned above that the bus was coming back from a play as part of a class requirement. Anyone who took Theater Appreciation at Rutgers would understand that's not unusual.
Field trip type activities happen all the time in the weekend. That’s not a “class session”
So tell me how are you going to magically stop drugs? You must not be paying close attention because many of the drugs rampant in this country were manufactured in this country or brought into this country legally. Purdue Pharmaceutical ring a bell? Ever hear of meth? Let me guess you think the Mexico wall will magically stop them? I got news for you as long as humans are looking for an escape there will be ways for people to get drugs.
I agree that politics and finger pointing are not what's called for in a thread like this (or ever, IMO, since it's such a waste of time).
It's common to have to attend a cultural or arts event to fulfill a course requirement. I had a Humanities core class and needed to attend a University music, dance or theater performance, which was a small percentage of my grade.
Back in the day, we had a geology class field trip on a Saturday- not a Sunday of course, but still not regular class time
This is a young guy who evidently has a long term mental disorder which is documented prior to this killing of 3 other former teammates.The most telling thing is he mentions his father running out with no reasons when he was 5. He claimed it always in simple terms caused him to wonder why? That certainly could have impacted him in his life. No excuse to kill someone needless to say he kills 3 . This wasn’t political … mental disturbance yup… drugs and alcohol are always in our current society very possible. Don’t think he used an automatic high powered assault weapon. Probably he purchased the gun legally.
In this circumstance it would appear he has taken 3 young lives and members of families who deserved a better outcome in life. The failure lies within the medical, Judicial and educational systems . Do we assume even after he told of his early life and his father leaving did anyone this man has some possible psychological needs conjecture . This is the problem and to make lite of it is shameful. The drugs, the homelessness , the simple dissolution of the nuclear family environment. People claiming this is not a big thing are someday going to be confronted with much worse on our streets and schools.
That brings back memories. HS biology we had this huge leaf project and were out all over the place trying to get all the weird leaf samples on the project list. That was definitely not during class time!
You joke about something that is really a serious problem for decades. I hope in your lifetime RUDead you never have to bury a loved one because of drug OD. I guarantee you’ll rant…
