Tickets will be crazy but nice to see it's here and not Dallas.

Really sucks US in group stage isn't leaving the West Coast.

Couple questions for the soccer crowd:

- Guessing this will necessitate grass being installed, correct?

- Trays or whole new set up?

- Is it wide enough for a real full size pitch? Assuming when it was built this was always a consideration.

Yes, don’t know about trays and they can widen by temporarily removing some lower rows on the lower bowl.

At all the 2026 venues any turf has to get pulled up and grass planted. For real.

It’s wide enough. I’ve been to a soccer match there and it’s a very good venue for soccer. Better, I thought, than it is for football.

I think they will need to remove a few rows to meet WC standards. For the exhibitions and lesser cup games I don’t think they were required to do so. Either way they have the capacity to do it.

Don't they automatically qualify?
They were referring to Italy. US as a host should automatically qualify but since this WC is shared among a few nations has that changed? I read it the same way you did initially.

Thanks, wasn’t sure. Did they expand the field because of that?
They expanded the field but not because of that. More countries in is more money.

They announced the group stage locations today as well. For USA they'll be staying on the west coast. LA, Seattle, and back to LA.

Some quick research says the minimum width is 70yds.

NFL width is 53yds and change.

~17yds to work with

Is there enough room leftover for a sideline, cameras, advertising, etc. ?

The upper deck will probably be in the $300-500 range for the final depending on how high up you are.
You couldn't even get into the Knicks/Lakers game for that on Saturday night. Cheapest ticket right now for the Super Bowl on Stubhub is over $5,000. You're not even close to being in the ball park.

Yes.

They wouldn’t have chosen ML if it wouldn’t work. As I wrote before, I’ve been to a match there. Colombia vs Argentina

Do you really think face value is going to be over $1000?
No and I didn't say that. The secondary market is all speculative right now. There are no tickets in circulation yet.

9 foot on each side? Plenty more room then that.

Correct. Normally, the FIFA minimum width is 70 yards, which Met Life Stadium can accommodate.

However, for the World Cup, FIFA is requiring that the field be 68 meters, roughly 74.4 yards. This will require removing 1,740 seats. MetLife has already agreed to do this as a condition of bidding. Several other WC sites must do so as well.
