OT: World Cup 2026 Finals In New Jersey

You couldn't even get into the Knicks/Lakers game for that on Saturday night. Cheapest ticket right now for the Super Bowl on Stubhub is over $5,000. You're not even close to being in the ball park.
Why are you citing secondary market prices? I was referring to the face value when they go on sale. I can ask for $10k per ticket for the last row in MetLife for the finals on StubHub, doesn't mean anyone is going to buy them.

Couple questions for the soccer crowd:

- Guessing this will necessitate grass being installed, correct?

- Trays or whole new set up?

- Is it wide enough for a real full size pitch? Assuming when it was built this was always a consideration.
Yes.

Prob trays.

No. FIFA is giving US stadiums exceptions for being undersized

Oh goodness tickets will be a lot more than that.
I can't imagine any ticket for the finals being <$1000 and maybe more than that and I'm sure they'll be way more than that on the secondary market. Might just have to get one...

The chances of you scoring face value tickets for the finals is very very slim. It's no different than getting them for the super bowl. I'd be shocked if the face value finals prices were that low too. The cheapest super bowl tickets face value were $950 this year for reference. Next tier was $1950 and worked up from there.

There will not be a $300 face value WC final ticket. This isn't 1950.

Face value will be more than you said. Secondary will be outrageous.
Judging from 1994 Giants Stadium games, I would offer the following.
  • The high demand first round games (Italy vs. Ireland) were outrageous as you suggest.
  • Lower demand games (Morocco vs. Saudi Arabia) were much more reasonable.
  • Knockout round is a crapshoot. I remember the semifinal at Giants Stadium. Everyone expected Germany and its traveling contingent of 20,000 fans to be there. But they got upset by Bulgaria and their 500 fans. They were literally giving tickets away for the Italy-Bulgaria semi.

We're talking about the final though. In the group stage yes you could probably get in $300-$500 face in third tier.

Soccer is a lot more popular now than in 1994.

This face value stuff is adorable. This is the world cup final in NYC. How many people are even going to have a legit chance at a "face value" ticket? The question for everybody here will be "how high am I willing to go" on the secondary market.

I can think of 20 college stadiums way better than that dump…🤮 SoFi, Jerry World, Miami, Atlanta from the nfl alone are better…

In '94 it was the Rose Bowl for the final, not exactly a cutting edge venue even then. I think there are other considerations.

The world cup final is in New Jersey. NYC adjacent.

Come on now. You know what I mean. This ticket will be damn near impossible.
I hate when Jersey gets the shaft on stuff like this. Calling it as it is even though I understand your overall message.

Oh ok I definitely get that. I guess my overall message is IF anybody here gets a face value ticket - congrats. You'll have options.

All of the early round games should be during the week.
The Meadowlands Pace should not have any interference.

Weak attempt here. Past your bed time.
Work night, going to sleep soon. But always time to make fun of soccer. You know, one of the few sports that US men are awful at. Waste of time having it here. Give it to a nation that cares about soccer.

Still got a long way to go yet.

In all likelihood yes, tickets for the final will be stratospheric.

But in the unlikely event that two underdog teams with tiny traveling fanbases make it, then there will be a shit-ton of tickets available, and the buyer can name his price. Just like the 1994 semi, when everyone expected Germany and got Bulgaria.

To give be an idea of the growth of soccer since 1994, tickets were incredibly easy to get (at least for me) back then.

They had tiered pricing, and I put in for a lot of games at the lowest price level and got everything I put in for (every game at the Meadowlands plus the quarterfinal in Foxboro).

The pleasant surprise for me was that they considered seats behind the goals in the lower level the same tier as upper deck tickets, so I had tickets to every Meadowlands game directly behind the center of one net, about 15 rows up. The viewing angle was surprisingly good and the crowd experience was amazing there.

I will put in for multiple venues this time, but I don’t expect to get anything with the increased demand.

How do you put in for tix?
FIFA or with venues directly?

The upper deck will probably be in the $300-500 range for the final depending on how high up you are.
I think that'll be face value but now with stubhub and other 3rd party websites in play I can see them being unbelievably high.

I'm not sure how ticketing will work for the world cup because we have a vastly different ticketing culture (if that makes sense haha) than Europe in my experience and how fifa distributes tickets.

Yes, that’s all you can go off of for now. You’ll have people trying to resell cheap seats for astronomical prices. Doesn’t mean anyone will buy them. But some on here will think that’s the market for them.

Relevant tangent: But this further validates why Rutgers is in the B1G. The geographic location that NJ finds itself in is just too valuable for networks/brands/organizations to disregard.

IIRC the ticket price for 1994 for my lowest tier tickets was somewhere between $50-100 each with the highest tier being a few hundred.

I would expect that now the lowest priced tickets will be $200-300.

Besides price, the biggest change from 94 will be actually going to the game, Parking was so much easier in the old Meadowlands.

The final game is on a Sunday,July 19th.
I knew that they didn't want to go head to head with the Meadowlands Pace.

No and I didn't say that. The secondary market is all speculative right now. There are no tickets in circulation yet.
I'm sorry if you thought I said that. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what face value for them would be.
