I'm posting my opinion in one thread so I don't leak my thoughts into a bunch of threads. But I am not very high on this defense this year at all. You can all bash me here in one spot or maybe I make some points that make you think.

This is under the assumption that Toure is either not on this team or not close to 100% during the season, basically a non-factor.

So who is your #3 LB? And if Wright isn't healthy who is your #2 LB? Walker who has struggled mightily? And I'm not as high on Djabome as others here. Even if he's solid we still have a glaring hole at the other LB spot. So we are a team that plays only 2 LB in our scheme and they may not be that good. In the past we made that up by having our third safety closer to the box as almost a LB hybrid. The problem is we're not playing a three safety set this year we are playing a three corner set, of which none of the three corners are bona fide #1 corners as per what Rich has said himself in the past. So what then? Are you saying the whole defense hinges on our defensive linemen, of which all of the starters are transfers with zero P4 experience? And to keep them healthy? The only way this works is if we have a great DC that is good at making adjustments and basically smoke and mirrors to get a good defense out out what we have. But we got Robb Smith, and ask Rich and mb what they think of him.

Beat me up if you want, I don't think we have a good defense this year. I'll try to keep these comments in one single thread so I'm not ambushing other threads with this thought.
