For those of you that golf you’ve done this, push a ball right come back next shot and pull or hook it too much left. We’re witnessing this in real time with Pike. He brought a program back from the dead with a gritty, defense first image. Pound nails. That got us publicity. We didn’t parlay it into success. Last year our offense was so neglected that he completely sold out his defensive philosophy for this circus. We’ll score a lot, and lose. Where do we go from here? The cupboard will be bare next year. It’s like rebuilding all over. Do we go back to pounding nails. Do we keep hero ball (most years our offense was hero ball) with no defensive IQ? Or do we find the balance we had for 1-2 years with a core group (RHJ, Geo, Myles, Caleb, Young etc) that I miss so much right now. I’m not sure Pike knows how to find the balance and he was just very fortunate to have that core group at that point in time. Thoughts?
