Oversize vehicles get screwed in Blue Lot

I (as well as others) have to pay extra to park along the fence in the blue lot. And yet again they make us park in a dam gully along the side of the soccer field. You think they can fill that in and grade it so the RVs, buses, ambulances etc do not bottom out? More importantly so when you step out of the vehicle you step out into a hole that is 3 feet below you....Supposedly this year blue lot wraps around the backside of the field. I asked to park on the fence over there because the ground is nice and flat. I was told I was not allowed to park on that side because it is for cars only.....WTF is that crap???? Rutgers really needs to address this, some day somebody is going to step out of a rig and bust an ankle...

It's a fair point.
I parked my RV there last year and I had to place several leveling blocks under my leveling jacks to get reasonably close to a level state where I felt comfortable extending the slide outs.

Getting into and out of the gully was always an adventure.
It's not ideal to say the least.

Using the back side of the soccer field (along the fence) would work.

In the mean time, buy some stackable leveling blocks from an RV dealer such as Camping World.

Good. Let us know what their response is.

Think you just need an upgrade in your oversized vehicle. This baby won't bottom out on a stinkin grass gully

I've talked about this for years. And never got an answer. Money shouldn't be an excuse. Stones, sand topsoil and seed. Could be leveled off in a day.

As of 2pm today not a peep from the athletic department. Not even an acknowledgment of receiving the mail and say they will look into it.....Should have expected that.....

I am not one of these oversized vehicle people.. but really.. this should be a top priority. These people have enough money to BUY an RV (or make one) and use that money to pay extra to go to Rutgers games.

SERVICE THEM.... then get around to planting some hearty grasses in the back of the yellow.

Sounds like the area where they are building the Soccer/lacrosse complex isn't it?

They might as well figure it out now since that area is going away eventually anyway...

Black lot too. 36 foot camper, they told us to park in 1 space and hang out over the grass( way to small) or park in the street. Camper passes are $550, I'm not parking in the street.

I don't know if the yellow lot was the same, but with the lack of rain this year, the blue lot was a dust bowl last week. It's already in late season form with huge patches of bare soil.

My car was covered with a layer of dirt and it looked like I'd been off-roading.
Yellow lot was OK.

Just don't have the kids play tag through the back seat of your car. That happened last year, and I still have yet to hear the end of it from the Mrs. Spank.

Finally got a response from the AD. I am told I should not have an issue tomorrow and will not have to park in the gully.

Great news but be prepared to park against the fence on the north side of the soccer field. A longer walk to the game but better than being in a hole

I am OK with that, will be on flat ground and closer to the blue lot exit.

Latest update.....We were not allowed to park on the north side fence and were told that was for overflow yet again. As a result all of the oversized vehicles were in the gully again.....My crew is now contemplating not going to the game early and having a big tailgate but wait til 1 hour or so prior to game go to blue lot and see what they do with us then.....the gully side of the fence should be full by that time and I am really interested in where they park us.

You need to go back to the Athletic Department and shake the tree. Go up the ladder if you have to.

Why do you need to shorten you tailgate to get a good spot? Total B'S now through many administrations. There is a simple solution and everyone keeps ignoring it!

Not being allowed to park on the other side of the fence makes zero sense. Show up Friday night and park there. Sleepover. They won't make you move. They might threaten you but that's about it. Problem solved until they use common sense.

Please follow up with the person from the AD who told you it would not be a problem.
They need to know when their instructions are not being followed by the parking staff.

@RU Golfer let me know what you hear back, we have a bus in blue as well and haven't been happy with this issue. We can follow up with emails to the same person to drive home the point.

I noticed all the vehicles still parked in the gully last week and was wondering what happened.

Not to mix threads, but if the plans for Hamsterdam ever come to fruition, that part of the Blue Lot will be filled with college students. What's the feeling then? Gully or Hamsterdam? I'm being serious.

The Yellow lot parks RVs along Scarlet Knight Way. There's no reason the same can't be done in the Blue Lot.

When I got there I talked to the manager onsite said that RU indicated that side of the lot was still for overflow. what they did is make some room on the gully side up in the front of the lot. Maybe 1 or 2 vehicles can fit there......That was not the answer I was looking for as I am speaking for all and want to be able to have all vehicles park on the north side. We have followed up again this week but have not heard back.

Haven't trailers/busses been parking in the Gully for years? This doesn't get resolved this year IMO. They shouldn't have said it would be.
