Saw on another board where Paramus Catholic is playing at Michigan stadium against another team from the east coast the day before Michigan's opener. If this is true, well I'll just copy what I posted over there:

Unlike most that will comment on this, I have no issue with this from an NCAA or Michigan perspective. Honestly, could not care less about it - Harbaugh should do anything he can do within rules to promote Michigan and don't see why NCAA should be involved in this. And a ton of people will get on here and post what a crud Harbaugh is, etc. and this is just a waste of time that I don't want to be involved with.

But from the HS perspective - why is the HS administration on board with this? I deal with HS issues a ton and I just can't see the point unless it is a case of the inmates just totally running the asylum. This is going to cost a TON of money with very little benefit to the students - more of just "I'm doing it because I can" kind of attitude. I realize that boosters and fundraising are probably paying for this in toto, but unless you are just flush with FU money, there have to be much better things to spend it on. I can see this being attractive to just a small circle of parents but on the whole, I have to think that this is a negative to most reasonable parents who children might be prospective students at Paramus Catholic unless they just don't do a lot of thinking in general.

Who's paying to get the teams to MI. If it is UM, then that should be a violation. If the HS then it's a waste of money. If a donor, then need to know the money trail. If parents, cool as long as no large cash depisits into bank accounts.

When NJ HS teams play out of state it's the HS booster clubs (parents) that foot the bill. Almost always the Private/ Parochials.

Another parochial High school/company that has totally lost their way. The president of pc has become really buddy buddy with harbaugh - it's a sickening relationship really. Both guys are whoring out their resources, not caring about the collateral damage, in an effort to win the enrollment war.

I wonder which guy is using the other guy more .

At least he thinks buddy buddy with Harbaugh. He comes across as a bigger ahole than Harbaugh. When the puppy love ends, and it will, he will be like a jilted teenager.

What I find amazing is that the team they will play is from Maryland, not a Michigan parochial.

BTW - I'm sure that one of the reasons Paramus Catholic is doing this is that publicity = applications, even if the applicant doesn't play football.

PC should just change its name to Ann Arbor Catholic East thereby avoiding any confusion over where their loyalties are.

Someone on the other board mentioned a significant uptick in scholarship $$ for students at PC flowing in from Michigan this year...Mmmm

Another way to get out-of-state kids on campus. Pretty clever, actually.

So much for "repping" your home state. Unbelievable stab in the back to Rutgers. Ash should state that RU will not recruit any players from PC as long as this bullshit goes on. Could negatively influence some players from attending the school.

I believe Biff Poggi coaches St Francis in Maryland. The other team. His son is a UofM lineman.
PC holds the right to the gate and I'm sure will need to split with St Francis. Might work out as tickets could be $5 to $10 bucks and there are lots of folks in Michigan who would love to see the Big House from the inside who can't afford or get Michigan game day tickets. 20K tickets at $10 and each school heads home with $100K to cover costs and their kids got to play in the largest stadium in the country.
There are I believe 14 HS teams from Michigan opening their seasons at the Big House week before.
Just a little background.

I would not take it out on PC students/prospects, none of this is their fault. In fact, I think Ash should recruit PC kids extra hard to show that he is the bigger man.

I think that's cutting off your nose to spite your face. Right now, being denied recruitment by Rutgers is eclipsed by an inside track to Michigan.

NCAA rules already exist. Absolutely no contact between coaches and players while on campus. I believe no contact is allowed on the day of a game or event.
Also HS teams traveling to another state to play at a college stadium. is not new and is done every year across the country. Is this really somehow different than NJ HS championship being played at Rutgers stadium from a NCAA stand point?

There are a ton of different NJ HS championship games. The truly top teams in the state play their championship at Met Life (Giant's Stadium).

With the last point, I would say yes, 2 teams from 800+ miles away playing in a college stadium located in neither of their states in a regular season game is a bit different than 2 in-state teams playing at an in-state college stadium for a state title.

...don't really fault Michigan here (definitely creative) but I definitely think its a double-edged sword for PC and UM.

Guess my point was anytime a HS team plays at a College stadium there is the possibility of player/coach contact which is against NCAA rules. The fact that it is in the teams home state or 800 miles away is irrelevant to the current NCAA rules.
What I'm really curious about is are these 2 HS teams or the 14 teams from Michigan playing there the week before being charged for costs incurred by the stadium? If Not Who is covering the cost?

If Mark Richt can afford to "donate" 1MM towards a new indoor practice facility, I'm sure Jimbo can dig through his couch cushions for the money to cover the cost.

I wasn't being serious, but sure okay.

We all know Michigan runs the cleanest ship.

If PC is paying their own way it would be pretty simple for UM boosters to make donations to cover this and no one would be the wiser.
