What is going on with Paul? He has not played very much at all. He must not be anywhere near 100%

Got hurt during the Wazzu game. He limped off the field early in the game. Tried to walk it off and stretch it out before returning to the locker room (probably to get taped) and then he came in for two more drives (late 1st half and early 2nd half) before not playing any more.

Love James but he is a man of Glass. Its sad that he has so much talent and yet so prone to injury and this goes back to high school.

I think man of glass is a slight exaggeration. Nobody would have survived the hit he took when the Navy player dove at his knee with his helmet.

I have to think his past 2 injuries take a toll. I am far from a James but when I played at Cornell I took a hit to my left knee and was never the same...to this day I feel it when cycling LOL

He might take longer to heal..OR maybe get confidence in his injured area.

Agree with much of what has already been said concerning his prior injuries. Sometimes, your brain simply takes over and puts you into a defend mode. He has really taken a lot over the years including HS.
Also, we have a pretty healthy rotation going at RB which we have not had before. Hicks appears to be the main runner.

Takes 2 years to get over an ACL tear...no matter how good the player says he feels.

Agree with what some have said here - may very well be a combination of both mental and physical. Being an RB you have to be fearless, and if I got dinged as much as he has I might be a little hesitant too.

Mike, do you happen to know Don Fanelli? He played RB at Cornell, in early 1970's he also stopped playing because of knee injury. He was leading the country in TD's at the time, and followed Ed Marinaro. Just wondering, grew up with him.

Coming back from knee surgery is never easy. I did not think James looked 100% in the opener against NSU. Not the same cutting ability or explosiveness through the hole that made him the extraordinary back he was last year. Hopefully, some of it is just mental - i.e., trusting his new knee. But, as others have said, at least there is real depth at the RB position. Hicks and Martin are very good, just a little less effective than James when he was 100% and leading the nation in running.
