While I appreciate the credit I didn't "call it". I thought it would be a good hire and hope it happens but I didn't see it was done. No offense to OP but I don't recall him as being a news breaking guy on here.

I mentioned in the other thread where I brought him up that he got a lump sum payment of 4.5M when he was let go so not sure if he'd have the same issues as you can see sometimes when the contract payments are amortized over the life of the remaining contract. I don't know the details but the lump sum payment makes me think his next contract won't be as much of an issue.
About 500-600K is actually what I was hoping we'd get him for because I wouldn't want to budget more than that for DC. I'd want the resources to be used on the OC instead. 500-600K is a solid salary, it's not the high end of the range but it's not the bottom either.

what we found out during the coaching search is that no one on these boards is connected and knows anything. they all think they have connections and they were all wrong about ash.
I loved Schiano and would have loved for him to be our HC, but it's time to move on.

He is a really good x's and o's guy. He was just okay as a recruiter not horrible not great. He'd be a good hire with the right staff.
I don't know about any birdies but the real word from reporters is that these rumors are not based on facts.
Never ever go by fake rumors. If everyone would just stick to the facts, there will be a lot less stress in the world and this board.
Given how much people seem to create stress for themselves here, I'm pretty sure stress is the glue that holds this board together. Get rid of it and there would only be one person left posting here.
The flip side of that are that some knuckleheads may think that the reason that he is not coming here is because of something that we did or did not do, when in reality perhaps he was never even approached!
Besides, our HC is one of the most elite DCs is the country before he became a HC, so if we are going to spend extra money on a hire, it would be smarter to spend it on the OC rather than the DC. Our defense is now in good hands no matter what.
Wouldn't that make a lot more sense?
lol - well, I was referring to Al, who's eternal optimism insulates him from stress, but you raise a good point.
