Over the course of this disaster of a season I’ve had a ton of conversations with out of state college basketball fans. Every time I mentioned I went to (and root for) Rutgers, their reaction has universally been the same - which is “oh! You guys are pretty good this year! Don’t you have a big time player?”.

I have to tell each of them that no, we’re not having a good year and yes we actually have two big time players.

It got me thinking that for the most part a lot of college basketball fans don’t really dive deep into any other team than their own and that outside of maybe 5 teams, no one has any sense of how teams are performing.

This got me wondering if it even matters that we sucked this season.

The reality is that for a majority of people outside of these boards, the lasting memory of this season is going to be Pike sitting in the green room at the NBA Draft hugging 2 of his players in the first 15 minutes of the draft. Those are going to be the pictures he puts in his office.

Now, dealing with the negative recruiting aspect is gonna be a bitch. But it sure seems like no one cares about the season (players included).
