RU has a legitimate chance to be competitive in at least 6 of their remaining 9 games. A healthy RU team would have had a legitimate chance to win ALL SIX of those remaining competitive games ... plus Indiana and Michigan, earlier in the year. Not saying a healthy RU team would have surely beaten Indiana or Michigan, or WOULD win all 6 of the remaining competitive teams, but there would have been a chance.

Good post, especially this last part. It's clear we have some talent, especially some good young talent. Was really nice to see what this team can do with guys playing in position, i.e., Lewis at the 5, Foreman at the 4, Laurent at the 3, Williams at the 2 and Sanders at PG. Give them some depth behind those guys (or upgrades next year) and this is a competitive team. Not an NCAA team, but not 0-10 in the B1G.

Sanders was all-world tonight, Laurent is really coming into his own, Grier played very well and Williams is playing much better. Lewis was game and had a great night rebounding, but Daniels, Foreman, and Goode played a combined 45 minutes with 0 points. As EJ said in the post-game interview, if we could've had a couple more guys playing at least average, we win this game. Feel bad for the players as they gave 130% tonight.

Funny side story: I was at work and I really didn't want to schlep to the game if we were going to be blown out, so I followed the game on line in the first half and when we clearly showed we could win this game, I went to the RAC for the 2nd half. Great half of basketball with the 3 OTs on top. How amazing was Sanders's grabbing his trey miss, followed by his dribble-back trey to tie it at the end of the first OT? If only he made that last FT at the end of regulation - we likely win, although we don't come close without his game tonight - kid's a future RU HOF-er.

I know most want Jordan fired, but I truly want to see what he can do next year with the guys we have coming back (and the injured guys back), plus some of the new talent coming in. Maybe he's our Frank Beamer, who was 2-8-1 in his 6th year and then everything fell into place, with the rest being history. Pipe dream maybe, but would love to see EJ finish at 0.500 next year, then get a really good class, then take off.

Gut wrenching loss for me, should have won. Have to make fouls shots. Did the post game say that Illinois shot 21-22 in overtimes from foul line?

I don't think EJ is getting the boot after this season, regardless of what any of us hope will happen. I, too, would love to witness a unicorn 2016-17 season (meaning a successful year nobody expects) with Jordan at the helm as the program rises from the ashes.

If it doesn't happen, the coaching treadmill at RU will continue once more.
