Phone Call from RU Athletics

People have gotten three and four of these calls in the last few days.

If calling people repeatedly to remind them what color shirt to wear is that much of a priority, then we've got bigger problems.

I've received 6 calls about this. 2 each to my cell, work and home phones within minutes of each other. Add to it the mailers. Real waste of time and money.

I'm trying to get ready for tomorrow's tailgate. And getting repeated calls from a Pat Hobbs recording has crossed the line from informative to really annoying. STOP CALLING ME.

While I agree it is rather aggressive, you would all be bitching that the AD didn't do enough if the stripe out is screwed up.

Constant Communication and engagement is what will increase the brand.

Though if Hobbs calls me again I'm gonna flip my lid. Hahha

I have to be honest, if the idea of the "stripe out" never crossed anyone's mind at any point, I'd be just fine with it.

Can I ask did the call say Rutgers University or Bound Brook ?...I refuse to answer these robo calls unless I see an ID or name...the more times you pick them up the more times they'll call trying to make contact...

Isn't this the first strip out, maybe hoping to make it a tradition and if this one is a flop that tradition might never get off the ground.
Might not be a wasted effort if stripe-out winds up to be successful and noticed by the national media.

Here's the thing: this is EXACTLY the kind of thing 90% of this board would bitch about if the blackout/stripeout/whateverout was a miserable failure (on a day with perfect conditions, let's say). They'd blame it on the administration: "Why didn't they call" "Why didn't they email" "blah blah blah" ...so, hey, they're being proactive. Probably the same people who make the Homecoming calls and whatnot. No biggie in my book.

A blackout would be easier. And I'm not just saying that because I have a lot of black clothes.

A mass caller like that really isn't that expensive--I can't believe people are complaining about the administration making sure people know what is going on. I remember seeing PSU communicating the stripe out a ton last year when they did it so not sure why people see the issue with RU doing the same.

I think it's really cool. Wish I hadn't answered and could save it to voice-mail.

Stripe outs have been done all over the country and the national media so far hasn't cared. Rutgers is just hoping that recruits care. The only mention from national media is if it goes terribly wrong because then they'd get to ridicule for a day or two.

As your ticket is scanned at the gate the scanner screen will light up accordingly and if you aren't wearing the right color, you're out. Try again later.

Heard there will be an outwear-exchange tent, so scarlet and blacks can swap and get things right and then gain entry.

[cheers]I asked Hobbs if he wanted stop by our Tailgate and have a few beers.
He wouldn't answer me and kept on talking.

hopefully it looks good.. sounds like a good idea but a blackout looks sweet at night

My call said Bound Brook. Didn't know the number, called it back and it was RU athletics.

Why are people complaining that Rutgers is marketing this hard & constantly reminding people? This is what you want & need when you have so many fans that complain about everything & have too many that are clueless or incompetent to read their tickets or the tons of emails, tweets, Facebook posts & other marketing.

It's a great idea. But the number of reminders is complete overkill.

For the amount of $$ they spent on that, they could've printed up red and black T-shirts to hand out at the game. Then they'd be sure people were wearing the right color and create some good will along the way.

I got 3 calls (all said Bound Brook NJ) and at least 6 emails. Woe be to them that still screw this up.:chairshot:

It's about time one of our AD's is taking his job seriously. Yeah, he is ramming down your throat. I understand that, but when did you ever here from Julie. What did she do to earn her money? Keep it going Hobbs!

To the posters calling this a waste of time and money do they think Hobbs is sitting in his office pumping quarters into a pay phone?

few guys at the top bitchin, few guys (like me) jokin, the rest supportin....let's not over-react

No sweat
You're right.

I heard from Julie. She told me she had no control over what was put on the video boards.
Really!
