Pick foul on Reese was more flagrant

Reese seemed unnecessarily chippy way before that, too. Not sure why but he got riled up early on in the game.

I thought that when Reese fouled McConnell on the pick, it was more flagrant than the one they called 2 possessions later. AND, they didn't review it!!!.. His elbow and arm raised and pushed McConnell to the floor.

Did anyone else see it that way???
Agree. But thought they were both flagrant.

His sister Angel is a head case as well. I think she considered RU. Landed at Maryland, and think she might have transferred to LSU.

Live, I thought so too - haven't watched the replay. And the one on Paul, I think, was more for cumulative hard fouls on breakaways, sending a message that these were dangerous plays by MD (not that the one on Paul was so bad, by itself - again, haven't seen a reply though).

At start of game, Reese and Cliff were jawing. Reese played quite dirty a la his pick against Caleb and flagrant on Paul.
Paul did get a little revenge with a somewhat devious backside pick to Reese.

The foul on McConnell should have led them to call a 2 on the mulcahy play. It qualified on a standalone basis but the other foul wasn’t that much before it and then should have realized that Reese is a dangerous dbag.

Little irresponsible for Willard to be playing him - Reese was not in a good headspace tonight (don’t watch enough to know if this is the norm) and he really could have hurt someone. Can’t see Pike playing someone like that - there’s a difference between being edgy and being dangerous.

I think it all started before the flagrant with McConnel.
Reese slapped McConnel's hand before an inbounds...McConnel gestured to the ref...but, got no respect.
I don't know if Reese and McConnel had words before that or something.
I think the ref's could have done something prior to Reese's eruptions...we got lucky our guys didn't get hurt.

Willard in postgame was happy Reese was playing aggressive and had regained “form”. I didn’t think he appropriately called out how bad and dangerous that foul was.

no. It was a hard foul....borderline Flagrant 1, nothing more.

Think about that play if it were a Rutgers player committing a foul.

Mulcahy for a week and a half last year.

That was beyond a hard foul. He essentially clothes lined him.

Announcers predicted Reese would lose it at some point. Then he did. In another thread I predicted he'll be involved in an on court fight before years end. Except for his fouls he was pretty much invisible last night.

He hit is head, but went clearly for the ball. We've seen clotheslines, but this wasnt one of them.

When I first saw it I felt he went for the ball too, and that the clothesline was an unintentional part of a hard play. Now looking at who did it, and his behavior through the whole game - I'm now pretty much 100% sure it was intentional and that he was looking to hurt someone.

You really think his intent wasn't to block the shot
I think his intent was to get the ball, but also to clothesline - both things can be true. Going for the ball helps to cover up the clothesline, but I am convinced his ultimate goal was to clothesline. He was overly aggressive and playing angry. I think it's obvious the kid has much bigger issues than basketball, and it is the university's responsibility to help him - should not have been on the floor last night.

You need to see the replay from behind the play green. He grabbed Paul’s shoulder with his right hand before he clobbered him with his left. That was a mugging plain and simple. From where I sat live I thought the same but you need to watch the replay. Really dangerous and inexcusable.

nope.
go back... Reese set a bad screen just before the actual foul on Caleb.. and didn't like how McConnell got around him.. so 3 seconds later as McConnel came back across the key, Reese 100% intentionally stepped in with the shoulder and followed with the elbow.. that should have been flagrant Not common.

then the one on Paul... ejection.

it's not even close - it was brewing..

it was NOT a "hard foul". it was an intentional mugging disguised as a hard foul for those not willing to pay attention.

We’ve seen this before from Willard teams.

you have to go back to 14:55 on the clock and watch the ENTIRE series of plays that led up to what happened.

was "hoping to block the shot" somewhere on his list of 6 things he was trying to do"? Sure.

but, it wasn't #1 or even #2.
