The fact your defending your ranking because you barely beat a very average Minny team in overtime. Barely beat a Indiana team who lost to Wake Forest at home. Who gave the game away by having 5 turnovers. Barely beating AAC Temple at home. Is comparable to losing in the last seconds of the game to Oklahoma st at their place. Losing with 2 seconds left to UNC at their place. On top of VT who beat Pitt in the last minute of the game and Miami.

To quickly hit on this thread:
- Pitt beat Penn State
- Pitt players have heart and are tough (though the team has some major holes).
- Narduzzi is clearly a good coach with new-coach growing pains. His half-time adjustments need work. He hasn't earned his reputation quite yet, but he's definitely been great to have.
- Rutgers isn't going to win with their players. Three shutouts isn't all on the players though. Even FCS teams put up a field goal. Even a new OC should be able to get some points on the board.

Consistent recruiting classes ranked around 30 to 40 coupled with a good game plan and we too can pull off some upsets here and there as well...also as much as Narduzzi is a d***, he brings fire and a much needed gameday hype that someone needs to do for us

As much as the fighting is entertaining, once upon a time Pitt was a program that RU had in the rear mirror, a program we beat 5 of the last 8 meetings, including a few double digit wins, and when they were stocked with NFL talent.

Fellow RU fans, I think we need to ask ourselves why it is that they beat two ranked teams including one we are denying to beat, and we are 2-8 and were blanked thrice this season.

It is not all Flood as much as he was most of the problem. We needed a Narduzzi and I am not sure we have one.

Yeah but he had some wins as an underdog prior to that. SDSU also ended up ranked last season.

I'm just trying to point out the hypocrisy. Franklin = slimy = can't coach. Narduzzi = straight shooter = coaching God.

I'll bet a lot of people on this board are having a tough time watching PJ Fleck do what he's doing based on his persona. Meanwhile, many of those same people were giving Flood a free pass because he was a good guy and did it the right way. (yeah, I know about Paterno...not the point).

Just this past week I told the same buddy that Franklin is either completely FOS or one of the nicest, most genuine guys there is. I worked for a guy like that before and he's still my favorite boss...not even close.

I hadn't heard it before but the players basically said it with him as soon as he got the first two words out so it must be a mantra with him. Thought it was interesting.

he's probably a touch of both. how much he wins will determine what PSU fans decide he is in their own minds.

As one of our former coaches once said, it's not the X's and the O's. It's the Jimmies and the Joes. Can't emphasize enough that recruiting is the lifeblood of college football. Coaching is important, but not as important as recruiting. If a coach can't recruit, he can be Lombardi and Noll and Bryant all rolled up together, and still won't win. Of course, recruiting is complicated. Gotta have something to sell, first and foremost.
