What the fluck could have Rettig done, for the Ash and the OC to
prefer not even give him a chance, I know the OC said he and Laviano really
bonded this summer and they are BFF. But God enough is enough.
Just play Oden rest of game and rest of season. Allen is a guy who couldn't get playing time at TCU and became a wr. Ash took his transfer because he knew RU did not have a qb on roster worth relying upon. Play the young kid with talent. This offense has no play makers outside of Robert Martin and Harris.

Agreed, mind-numbing and disgusting. Two seasons without a QB who can throw a pass and the one guy who can pass can't sniff the field. The coach at my local high school has a more flexible mind than Ash or Mehringer.

It's easy to point to the age, but more likely that he's just a crappy coach. Look at Okruch. He's old and he still can't coach
What did the staff have to lose? He was brought in at the end of spring/begin of summer to add qb competition.

So far the only QB on the roster we've ever seen throw some nice passes is 5th on the depth chart. It's all you need to know about mehringer.
The fact that he's 5th string is on the coaches. We've seen him play and he's good. The TV announcers said this offense makes no sense without playmakers.

BTW we don't have Wrs that can get open and catch balls or an OL that can keep the D off the QB either. So really the entire offense stinks.

I thought Meminger was supposed to be an offensive genius. I have seen nothing so far. Where is Hicks? He doesn't even get a carry again. Zach Allen I think is a 5th year grad student. If he only has this year than why are we playing him? I think it was good that Oden didn't play against the Michigan defense as he is so thin but some other QB who still will have more years to play should have gotten some experience. Now for the second consecutive game the only guy to catch a pass was freshman, Harris. Why can't Flanagan, Tsimis, Patton or Agodosi or any other receiver get separation to catch at least one pass among all of them? This is pathetic. Flood even got more out of our team. We have been outscored 136-0 over these last 2 games. That is hard to imagine. Do we do anything at all in practice?

OK your post is void and nil. Zach Allen has another year after this one. Those four guys at WR you mentioned are all slow, like sundial 40 time slow and most have stone hands. P.S. keep up with the times, Hicks has been moved to safety. Why you ask? Ask the last coach who recruited the nonexistent depth and talent we have.
380 yards against Iowa. Do you think an Iowa team that we played evenly will lose that badly to UM on 11/12? I don't, which is why I'm a bit down on the staff right now. I have a hard time believing that we have that little talent (or that Grant made that much of a difference).
There is a defiant unwillingness to understand how hugely undertalented this team is compared to team's with top 5 talent. I'm not sure Oden will ever be a good QB. But I am sure it was a good idea not to put him in behind an OL that was being absolutely shredded and tossed all over the place yesterday.
It's not as if as the season wears on something magical happens and you can suddenly ignore the dearth of talent and just say out of sheer frustration that it's the new coaches. It ain't. When the frustration wells up, steal a line from James Carville: It's the talent stupid. And it will never not be this year. This is Flood's roster and you're seeing what he gradually did to the talent level of the program after being given a a four-year cycle to do it.
Joe Montana and Bill Walsh could've done little to change yesterday. Just be glad the games against top 5 teams are over.
