Richie - you said late in the podcast that Pike is looking for a big man cosch. I’d argue that means Mitchell is not in the mix - he was really a 3 at Rutgers. I don’t see him as a guy who could make a difference for someone like Cliff. Thoughts?

Donny Marshall a former star UConn front court player.

You don't have to be Big to be a Big Man Coach. Jay Young was recognized as one of the best and he is probably 6'0 or less.

It has always amazed me why so many Rutgers posters think a Big man needs a “Big Guy” to coach them . Total nonsense.

Where is the red shirt freshman Chol from last year? He has had a year in the weight room, a yr of coaching and a year to absorb the offense and defense how many minutes does he get? And is he at least an adaquate option off the bench

Saw him up close towards the end of the season. When it comes to the eye test, he’s got the height but body looks very soft. Still looks like a project but maybe he plays better than he looks.

First, a 3 back when Mitchell played was a frontcourt player. Only recently did basketball become positionless. Don't confuse the times and the ability of a coach to teach a position simply because he's not viewed as a frontcourt player. Hell, even a 4 or 5 of today don't play like a traditional 4 or 5 of yesteryear.

Okay ,the issue then becomes why have the Rutgers assistant coaches not done a better job in improving the offensive games of Johnson and Cliff at the center position?

Is the the coaching or the scheme?
I don't know but a possibility is improving their offensive game isn't a priority for the team.

I always think back to the WRs under OC Kill. Was it the players fault they only ran 5 yards then turned around? Or was that all they were being taught and coached to do? And was it the WR coach fault or was he just operating within the overall offensive framework?
Don't care how many deep post plays the WR coach and WRs want to run - if it's not part of the offense then it's not part of the offense.
