Politi: The Downfall of Pat Hobbs

I read Politi's article and felt his case v. Hobbs was compelling. Kind of like listening to Mike Francesa talk about Joe Pedterno, the November Sunday after the news came out. Are there pictures in flagrante delicto? No, but the facts are damning. Defending Hobbs' behavior is different than promoting the good he did.

Can’t use school funds for his affair. Whole thing was idiotic. He must really be in love.

He did a hell of a job though.

Looks like Politi realized he sucked as a sportswriter and thought he’d be better as a tabloid journalist.
lol
He did win sportswriter of the year twice. I guess he’s pretty respected.
But i agree this tabloid journalism. It’s a big nothing burger with no facts

I have had no respect for him at all. He’s a weasel. I’d be happy to tell him that to his face.

Josh and Ted won awards to , because of articles they wrote about Rutgers that were based on partial facts that made Rutgers look bad unless one knew all the facts.
The true facts told a different story
What the Star Ledger was doing at that time was so bad that part of the fan-base chipped in to refute the false allegations that rag was making

on the banks put in their 2 cents a few years later

Politi is just continuing the the policy of making a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to Rutgers athletics and doing whatever it takes to make Rutgers look like it is run by imbeciles and criminals .

To what end is making your one true state university look bad a good thing? Purpose… ?

Fake news is a thing these days. It's all around us.

"Purpose" ?? clicks and circulation. make something out of nothing to get the public's interest to read your newspaper or subscribe to your online site.

Fake news is a thing these days. It's all around us.
and was a big part of covering Rutgers football back in the Josh and Ted days.
One of their hard hitting just found out investigative articles , implying it was just recently dug up by them, was reported the year before (Here come the boosters.) by another SL sports writer that left that newspaper for another one (Wall Street Journal)
Josh and Ted implied this investigation into the Rutgers football program just turned up the Nelligan Corporate money that was part of Schiano's contract and the school was hiding that from the public .
As it was that money was public knowledge because around a year before Josh and ted implied it was hidden from the public but they just found out about it, Mathew Futterman wrote an article that had the
Nelligan money in it and where it went .

Fake news only works when people don't take the time to find out if what their being fed is BS or the truth.

I checked and received this reply( trying to cover their asses)

Mr.xxxxx:

In Dec. 2006, Matt Futterman wrote a story after Schiano turned down Miami. Themain theme was that boosters would help fund some of his contract.
We knew about that story. We knew what it said -- and, more importantly, what it didn't say.
Specifically, what it did not say was that private funding would be keptsecret from the public and the school's own administration or that the moneywould be deducted from payments owed the university.

Thanks for writing.
Best regards,
Kevin Whitmer

Mr. KevinWhitmer,

Did Matthew Fetterman on December 2006 or in 2007 write an article about the issue raised recently about Greg Schiano’s contract?
If not I apologize for asking. But I’m under the impression it was talked about in 06 or 07 and now being raised again, like the Star Ledger never knew about it before.
Please advise if the rumor I’m hearing is true.
You know it will eventually come out if it is true.
This is what I’m talking about and don’t know if this is a true article or a lie posted in a forum.
But I have received not one reply from the Ledger editors about this. So I will ask you if true.
I will not stop until I find the truth and will ask media outside of the Newark Star Ledger if necessary.
I will contact every news media if necessary. Knowing most if not all will disregard my message.
But if only one looks into what I’m asking, then the truth will be known.
Please understand, I will contact all I can to find out and ask other Rutgers fans to do the same.
If the Star Ledger didn’t know about the issues they are claiming to just have discovered , fine.
But if Matthew Fetterman wrote about it in 06 or 07 , the Ledger is not reporting new news , but making their own.

Sincerely
xxxxx
