Finally, common sense, and a booster more concerned with RU than his own ego has spoken.

Politi (for once) totally nails the situation and the idiocy of allowing Towers, a Wisconsin alum with a connection to Flood but none to RU, commit NCAA violations on RU's behalf and claim to speak for people whom he does not.

If we're just going to take money from anyone, I'm sure James Franklin and Kevin Plank would be glad to extend Flood's contract.

Anyone who took Towers' reasoning of "we all know we're permanently set back with a change" as being true among all the boosters was being incredibly naive. Likewise if you think any group of wealthy men would all be on the same side of virtually any argument. There are boosters who are pro Flood, boosters who are anti Flood, boosters who are passionate and nuts in either direction, boosters who are calm in either direction, and some in the middle.

That's right, because I don't based my evaluation of a head coach based on who supports him and who doesn't.

It takes the bare minimum of common sense to be aware that a non-alum donor is trying to use his influence to keep an incompetent on and off the field coach here in a continued embarrassment to the program and university

And most fans agree. The boos on Saturday spoke for themselves.

Ok - I broke my pledge today and accessed the link to read the article. Anyone who has read this and doesn't believe that Politi is reading these boards to garner thoughts, ideas and even passages for his column is sadly mistaken. Some of this column reads as if it was pulled directly out of a Hudson post in the Towers thread....so much so that I'm now suspicious that Hudson is actually Politi LOL.

This reflects a level of conspiratorial paranoia that even Oliver Stone would react to by saying, "whoa, dude, take a step back ..."

I've never seen them both in the same place at the same time...

Clearly he does. He has even posted here a few times (he was spam to death with insults so he stop posting).

You don't believe there are people who use their money to buy influence in an athletic department just to stroke their ego or for some other selfish motive???

I don't believe they do it in this public and generous a fashion in order to take down one athletic department for the sole purpose of propping up another.
You mean he really thinks Flood is the answer? That's even worse than buying influence.

Isn't the title of this thread wrong? The booster is saying they will lose him as a booster if they let Flood go, not if they keep him.

OR...

You could actually read the article. That's another way to go.

"The reality is, Towers isn't speaking for all donors. Some are deeply concerned about the state of the program. "They will lose me if they keep (Flood)," one prominent and, unlike Towers, longtime booster told me on Monday."

Politi does qualify his booster as being a significant donor, only that they are prominent - big difference. Also, the APP article does not portray Towers as speaking for anyone. This is just another hissy fit because Tower's opinion is different from the nj.com blogger's. At least Politi is reporting Towers opinion. That's a start towards journalism!

You mean, other than the headline?

Jeff Towers: Rutgers boosters firmly behind Kyle Flood

Jeff Towers: Rutgers boosters firmly behind Kyle Flood

That being a headline written by the paper, not a quote. His quote carefully limits his comment to the people he has spoken to.

Sums up my feelings from the APP/NJ.com articles. Why are our boosters having this cat fight in the press?

They aren't. No real booster would answer a Politi phone call.

Its a made up story to get clicks from people like Bot.

The truth about Rutgers' situation isn't good for Towers or this prominent booster or some small fries like myself and other season ticketholders. We all talk the talk, but haven't given enough money to resolve this problem about football which is paying a qualified and experienced candidates fair market value. Had we all put our money where our mouths are, we're not having this debate. Maybe a coach from another P5 school is walking the sidelines of Rutgers with "stain".:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Maybe this prominent booster should have given more money the first time around. Next, would Rutgers really miss his donations? Let's call it like it is, Rutgers has poor leadership (Barchi), bad middle management (Hermann & Flood) and fake donors (Towers, prominent donor, me and others who complain, but don't give. Greg Brown is about the only person who actually gave a nice piece of change to help the cause (recruiting area).

Colorado is in a similar situation like Rutgers. There aren't any real big donors who by him or herself can make the difference. Still, if you can pool them together, instead of fighting one another, then you can accomplish something. In the last 10 years Colorado add luxury boxes, suites and administration offices on the eastside of the stadium all with donations ($20 million). Now they are opening their first indoor facility/ new locker room/ training center/ training room/ meeting room/ media center/ reception area (doubles as a wedding & party area) connected to the east and northeast sides of the stadium. Also under the practice facility will be an underground 300 space parking garage. About 1/3 of the money came from donations ($50 million). Last year Colorado build its first basketball/volleyball practice facility next to Coors Event Center (basketball/volleyball arena) all with private money. The board of Regents and politicians stepped aside and allowed the school to borrow against future Pac 12 earnings. The politicians even allowed Colorado State to start upgrading its indoor practice facility as well as new football stadium.

NJ biggest problem is too many BS excuses and people fighting for control of any project. Also, their a need to be recognized for it. Why not just work together.

This is the real problem. If a prominent booster is confiding in Politi, he or she is not paying attention to what is going on. His agenda over the years is so obvious, that anyone who has a brain can see it. Instead of confiding in Politi, they should be on the phone with Julie asking her what she needs and how they can help.

I am straight up calling Politi a liar. No real booster worth anything would talk to him about anything.

There is no need to. They can say it directly to the AD.

No Lip is just looking for clicks. And people like BotinRHouse are easy marks.

the APP runs a fairly minor story on a booster and for the next 24 hours SL's main stories are:

"hey that guy sends tweets"

"we got our own booster we can talk to, but we can't let you know who it is"

"16 year old changes mind and will let someone else give him a free trip or two to a campus"

I smell desperation (at SL not here) -- and many of you a buying into it....

Without a name, that booster might not be as big of a donor as Politi would have us think with that one prominent and long time booster remark made in his blog to describe the booster..
Might not agree with Towers on keeping Flood, but it looks like Stevie is trying to turn the RU fan-base against him .

I told Steve this and he blocked my email. Lol!

I would consider that a good thing. Rid yourself of people that suck at things in life, like their job. You are better off.

I HOPE THE STAR LEDGER...
I don't want to be sued or bullied by the media for saying what the majority of folk in NJ think.

Pffft...unnamed boosters.

Politi sure knows how to get clicks from some here. Catnip to felines.

Seriously...when Politi finds a random "unnamed source" to fit his agenda he gets crucified.

But when he finds a random "unnamed prominent donor" people get quarter chubs. Politi could interview me and call me a prominent booster, let's not get all excited.

It's only a matter of time. They are reduced to tabloid trash to try and get clicks, and their readership is still dwindling.

Death is a matter of when, not if. I will send a nice bottle for Julie to privately pop when it does.

Getting blocked by Politi on Twitter is roughly the same as getting banned on BWI.

If Politi is advocating for firing Flood, he is advocating on behalf of 95% or more of RU fans.

Basically, you have

Pro RU being successful:
- 95% of fans
- Most donors

Pro Flood, who cares if the team is successful or the cause of national embarrassment:
- A few posters here
- Jeff Towers
