Our guys played much better tonight. They never gave up. Laurent was a big addition for us. He really took it to Iowa's big guys and scored 14 after being out for 19 days. Corey had 9 assists and Mike Williams scored 17 and hit three 3's. I myself was proud of our guys tonight as Iowa is #9 in the country and was another team that was so much taller than us. we scored 46 points in the paint against Iowa which is pretty amazing. Hopefully we can be competitive next week and than come home and upset Illinois. we need to get a win.

Look I am not for participation trophies but I agree with OP. These kids were clearly outsized, overmatched and outgunned but these was absolutely no quit in our kids. They battled right to the very end and earned my respect tonight. To Eddies credit he was very animated and into the game. We gave them our best but it was just not enough.

Iowa went thru motions and zone pressed 3 times. I am shocked we didn't see 1-3-1 or something with Jok out front getting us on one side of the court.
Greene , they didn't go through the motions, they couldn't cover us. Our ball movement and Corey's passing was mostly outstanding. When the team ran Eddie's stuff it worked great. Go to Scarletknights.com and read Coach McCafferey comments where he outlines it briefly. Give Eddie and the kids credit. With the exception of a few minutes early leaving Jok open, and some turnovers at the end of the half when Corey had to get a rest, and a couple of ill advised turnovers by Bishop , we played well with good effort. We should expect to see it every game. Laurent made a huge difference and if we had the rest of our squad, we likely win tonight !,,
I didn't see the game, and some (Ohio) ignored me for being a hater, but even I am somewhat intrigued from last night's results.
But this kind of effort and results are needed the rest of the season (and and decent recruits) for me to change my mind on Eddie.
Here's hoping, and here's hoping a fire has been lit under the coaching staff's butts.
Don't look for results in the win column. Right now we need to watch effort, development, execution, and unity in play. We are just too outmanned inside.

What? We lost by 14 points and Iowa's lead was about 10 points for most of the second half. It wasn't like we were going back and front with the lead and Iowa was sweating it out.
Iowa was picked to win by 22. We were out gunned and we battled all night long with only 7 and a half scholarship players against the #9 team in the country and on a 12 game winning streak. Some people just seem to love being negative and rarely say anything nice about our guys.
didn't even realize the game was yesterday. But with what we have left on the team..a participation trophy earned for effort is not a bad thing .
He gets to the basket which leads to better shots (of course) and it opens up the floor for us. He also is athletic so can be an effective defender.He was badly missed while out. Laurent and a healthy Freeman next year are going to be a strong 1-2 punch for our inside game. This year is painful, but good things are very possible next season with everyone coming back and staying healthy.
I watched the game from my houseboat in the Keys(I am always amazed when I can do this LOL)

Last night after the game Eddie said that Laurent is their Julius Erving in practice. That was kind of cool to hear. It would be nice if he continues to improve. He looks good for a freshman. He and Corey are two really good freshman and I think they are roommates. I myself hope that Nigel Johnson can be a good contributor next year and that he, Corey and Mike Williams can split the time at the guard positions. Freeman, Laurent and Foreman can do alright at forward if they can all stay healthy. We still need another big and a couple more shooters but just maybe we can be a bit more competitive next year. By the way who was the guy who said Laurent was only good enough for a mid major? He played outstanding now against Indiana and Iowa. That is not too shabby.
Gosh, if we could just get a stud for the 5...somebody that could consistently make that short J.
There's got to be somebody over in Europe. I volunteer to go check them out if RU would cover all travel and meals, etc :)
I think he was joking that he was just making some nice moves in practice. I don't think he ever would believe he was even a fraction of the player Dr. J was.
If and could rarely has positive results at Rutgers.The Iowa head coach was being nice to a fellow coach in a difficult situation.
