This will be the key stat line. Late in the Nebraska game (his career best game) Johnson only had 1 foul called on him. The refs swallowed their whistles overall which greatly benefitted us. However, if Myles picks up a quick one in the first few possessions (and worse - a second one when he comes back in) and is forced to the sideline for the “2nd quarter”, without Geo already, we’re doomed with PSUs interior game.

This will be the biggest factor in the game.

Myles must avoid getting the cheap foul on the perimeter against guards..Young needs to followup on what he’s been doing the last 2 games. Myles 10 plus boards/3 or less fouls, JY 5 -7 assists, Harper shooting, including lots of 3s, Yeboah inside/outside efficiency - all will translate into a successful game for Rutgers

This will be true in virtually every Big 10 game. Myles is the only irreplaceable starter. No one else on the team has his skill set.

I agree with the OP premise but I still believe Carter can hold the fort while Myles sits. He has to. We need him to step up big tonight.

Also we should not sit Myles so much just to conserve his fouls, because if we sit him too much it’s as if he fouled out anyway.

If Myles fouls out with 3 minutes left in the game then so be it. We need to have a lead at that point and then put the ball in the hands of our guards and better foul shooters (of which Carter is one, btw).

Totally agree with ScarletDave here; keeping Myles out of foul trouble is key, but just as important is for Myles and Shaq to get Watkins in foul trouble; he's a beast. You get him out of the game, and we control the boards like we did against Nebraska.

Think we throw Shaq and Ducoure at their big man to try to get him in foul trouble.

Watkins is a handful. We might see Douc if Myles gets in foul trouble. Carter not as strong on defense and douc has the size to handle Watkins.

Watkins is a huge challenge for Myles. No one on Nebraska was close in size to him. Watkins has the size and experience. He will make it tough on Myles to score easy put backs. At the minimum, he'll make Myles earn it at the stripe (not good). Watkins is one of the better bigs in the B1G.

100% spot on. Every single game it's the biggest factor

Agreed with Doucoure who would have the beef to deal with Watkins if needed. Carter isn't thin but doesn't like to bang like Doucoure does. Another strategy could be to use Carter and try to draw fouls on Watkins inside

Carter and Duke are the same height and weight - Duke does tend to be a bit more physical, though, while Carter is a bit more agile.

Keep pounding the freakin’ rock inside to Myles , Harper,Yeboah ,Carter, Caleb etc.because we ain’t beating them from the top of the key or 3 pt range . Need a solid controlled game from Caleb and Young...they bang ...you bang ... hopefully the zebras let them play .

Good call. We took over rebounding at the end
