Blowing a lead or foul shots, We must stop accepting these blatant mistakes against us in every sport. We have no respect and its bullshit.

Completely unacceptable performance by the officials. Does Julie make a call asking for an explanation? I sure as hell would as an AD

There was no excuse for what happened at the end of this game. This was nearly as bad as the tournament game in the garden with Tim Higgins.

Rutgers has won games the same way, but I don't recall anyone here being that upset about it. It all even out over time. Besides, shooting 5 of 14 or whatever it was from the line hardly makes it seem like victory was taken from you.

That's basketball...

Agreed. Awful reffing down the stretch. So bad it looked corrupt. But, that's not why we lost. Can't win on the road getting out rebounded on the O glass by 10 and shooting 35% from the line!!

No Source, Having two ball handlers knocked off their feet in the open court in the last few seconds in very plain view is not "basketball." Certainly the announcers didn't think so. This despite Lavin being big-time homer. Some jostling around the basket might be overlooked in that situation, not what happened here. And if you had watched the game you would have also seen the announcers critical of no calls against St. Johns on several occasions. While they were 5 for 14 from the line, they should've had the opportunity to be about 10 for 28.

This. This. This. Just because we sucked at important times doesn't mean we shouldn't be given that chance to win (if this was a fairly refereed match).

Ex-St. johns coach just said on the 2nd Fox game......Rutgers got robbed by the no calls on Sanders and Daniels near the end of the game.

I would never fault a referee for missing a call down the stretch in a situation where you need to see a replay to be sure. These fouls were in the wide open court without obstruction of a crowd of players. These were fouls that were obvious even in real time. These were not the type of fouls that one would expect to see a refereei miss during the course of the game. These were not the type of calls that "even out" because these were the type of calls you might see once every year so close together in an end game situation. This was simply outrageous and source is full of it.

This game was not lost bc of horrible refs, even though they were horrible. Should not have come to this.

BS, notwithstanding all that they did wrong they did enough to win given reasonable officiating.

That's the risk you run when you don't run any kind of an offense and chuck up all sorts of ill-advised shots for a good chunk of the second half.

If you don't run a good offense for a good chunk of the second half, you run the risk that officials will stop calling obvious fouls? Not sure about that. Seems incorrect.

I thought we just didn't have the horses. When you have a layups and open shots and free throws, and you miss, what do you do?

What game did we win with awful officiating under 30 seconds?
Quincy Douby was "fouled" by Seton Hall as time expired in a tie game and made 1 of 2 to win it. Replays showed he wasn't touched. Only 1 I can think of but it was a rivalry game back then.

Wow. Not one absolutely obvious foul call missed at the end of St. John's v. Rutgers, but TWO. Unfortunate.

.@demauroj @LouMatino @DDuggan21 No question. It's early in the season but ya can't miss the trip. Raft, yours truly and Lavin all agreed.

Sooner or later you guys will realize that our bad play down the stretch and atrocious FT shooting have nothing to do with whether the refs should have made those calls. Nobody here disagrees that we should have won that game, and surprisingly easily.

Right, and that led directly to a win, with no time left on the clock for the other team to respond. Last night's non-calls (and I'm not saying they were adjudicated correctly) would not have led directly to a win for Rutgers. There was still time on the clock, you were shooting terribly from the line, and there was time for St. John's to respond. Rutgers could have won, but the odds were still against it. Were they denied the opportunity? It looks that way, but as I said, that's basketball. My school literally lost a national championship based on bad officiating. I hate it, but I've come to accept that it's just the way things are. And, as I also said, it tends to even out over time.
