QB Depth Chart

Starting a walk on at the quarterback position against top competition would not be unprecedented for Rutgers.

In 1996, baseball player Mike Stephans walked onto the football team, earning the 3rd string quarterback role. By week 3, Mike was the starter against #10 Miami.

Rutgers needs to get creative at the quarterback position and with the offense. Gavin will be entering his 3rd year on the field, without yet showing he can do the job.

Navy, Army, and Air Force are competitive - albeit against weaker competition than Rutgers - with perennially undersized offensive lines and limited passing capabilities. Perhaps these offensives could provide an interim solution for Rutgers in 2023.

You don't run those offenses in the B1G East without at least 5 QBs.

Remember watching Stephens at QB.. he wasn’t that bad at all. Believed he played 3rd base on the baseball team.

Ajani throws accurately, better than Wimsatt. so wimsatt has to improve over the summer, which I expect him to do.
Wimsatt looked accurate in his highlight videos. Have you seen Ajani in person mutiple times? curious

Let’s hope one it even both of our guys develop. Just a reminder how QB’s can develop year over year just click on the stats of Nova and Teel and neither of these guys came in as HS Srs. Nova had a hotter start but Teel really progressed from Year 2 to Year 3 and then took a huge leap in years 4 and 5.

Same classless fans bashed those guys their whole time here. Both were winning QB’s too.

Nova finally got real coaching his senior year. Teel was surrounded by NFL talent. Even McNulty couldn't completely screw that up.

It must be the giant magic wand full of fairy dust that will provide said improvement. I don't see it coming from these coaches.

Sheppard us only intriguing if he's in an offense that takes advantage of what he does well. That means an OC that has a philosophy, knows what he's doing, can teach it, and will be allowed to run his system without interference from the HC.
