QBs have a tendency to commit earlier than other position players, which means that recruiting starts even earlier. Rutgers has taken the initiative in that regard by starting very early with Paramus Catholic freshman QB Allan Walters. He started some games for Paramus Catholic last year, so it is not as though it is a premature offer. The kid has talent and is likely to emerge into a top QB recruit in the class of 2018. It may seem early, but RU's biggest in state success have started long before the player actually committed. The RU staff was on Savon Huggins and Darius Hamilton since they were freshman and it paid in the long run. Starting with Walters early is an extremely favorable tactic as he has already said, Rutgers will be there until the end. I caught up with him yesterday and you will be interested to know he said he does want to commit early. Now I don't think that will be anytime soon, but definitely a good sign for RU. Here is my article.
