Watching Villanova and Marquette. Maybe I'm missing him but I don't even see him on he bench.

He was on the bench in the first half. I don't think he played. Obviously Jay does not have a lot of trust in him. Other than Bey JW has gotten little out of his 4 person freshman class. A relatively bad vintage for Villanova but still 21 wins and just beat the 10th ranked team.
Very hard to recruit the Top 100 kids when you had a veteran team.
Even for one of the blue bloods like Nova-----those guys want time now.
Supposedly a great class coming in next Fall.
If our program is going to get at a higher level guys like this can't be targets. It's one thing if he got minutes and wasnt happy getting 15MPG, but when a guy can't make a rotation you have to wonder why.
If he isn't good enough to be in a Villanova rotation you have to think/hope he is not good enough for Rutgers.
Take his rating throw it in the trash.

I’m not sure if you mean target *now* as transfer or you are implying we shouldn’t have recruited him out of h.s., but either way I think this is a bit misguided.
Like it or not, it’s not unreasonable to say a kid who doesn’t get major minutes at a more established, perennial Top15 program *might* be able to make a much higher contribution at RU. You could argue Jacob Young fits into the same mold. Truth is, I’m happy to have him and as much as I like our other guards, I think he will have a real impact.
Don’t you think there is a difference between what Quinerly did a Villanova and what Jacob Young did at texas? Don’t you think Jacob Young’s mental approach and leadership is different than Quinerly?
Young's freshman year stats were worse than Quinerly's. If we got Young after his freshman year instead of his sophomore (which was better but nothing crazy) there'd be a lot of the same chatter I imagine.
Every kid is different. Some mature later, some are good, some are bad, some have family issues, some have great families, some have never been told no... you get it .
Villanova is a top 3 program in the country. Just because you don’t play at Nova as a freshman does not mean you can’t play at Rutgers as a sophomore, junior and senior. If you can’t recruit a guy like quinerly than who can you recruit as a transfer? If he is a good kid, has matured as a player and individual, good family and still talented then he should be in play. If he is not a headache give him a call if he decides to transfer.
Pikiell plays 10 or 11 players per game. Quinerly is probably more talented than our 8, 9, 10 and 11 guys.
Think of it as a prep year with a top 10 team and hall of fame coach.
The reason I love this team is Harper, geo, McConnell, tez, and Myles are all selfless players who put Rutgers first. every player pikiell brings in needs to fit this mold. This is why we can win with 3*. If Quinerly fits into this give him a call

I would not take Quinerly at RU. He is good but I prefer and like our guys who wanted to be here. I would not want him coming in and taking minutes from good players who have worked so hard for us and love it at RU. It could really be a major distraction for our team. I prefer to have Mulcahy who should be a second time first team All State performer and Jacob Young join our rotation in November.
It’s much more than stats. With 13 scholarships and no room for error, Pike has to look much, much deeper than just stats. Quinerly may not be a good fit for us for numerous reasons.

Quinerly just picked the wrong program....he needs to get the ball, play up tempo and play through his mistakes. Nova not having the type of season they've had the last 4 or 5 years makes Quinerly's lack of play, more baffling.
The lack of any significant playing time probably means the decision is likely made. Can he play without sitting out on a transfer is the question.

Pike would take him in a heartbeat. Pike truly wants to get out and run. Speaking with someone who was in the room when he gave his pitch to jahvon last year, and went over tape with him, the coach and jahvon were extremely impressed with pike and it actually made jahvon think about RU before committing to Nova.

Reports from some other people say Jacob young may be our best player next year which I find hard to believe with geo , gene and our frosh . We need to get out and run a lot next year with our stable of guards . Need to wear teams down and use our depth. Plus Montez and Harper are very good on transition and will only get better .

No no no, he will not. He’ll be a solid player and imo our best on ball defender but far from our best player.
Rutgers needs a small forward that can make 3 point shots .Quinerly is just another guard that Rutgers already has a surplus in the back court for next season.
Of course he is the best player. Why would anyone who follows Rutgers basketball think any different?
For him to get no minutes either he really isn't that good OR he is not buying in to what coaches want him to do.

I'm going to go with a bad fit. Villanova is a 3 point shooting team and he is not a great shooter..... probably below average.
Their PG last year, Jalen Brunson shot 40% on threes.
Quinerly is shooting 25% on threes.

Quinerly loves his jelly layup finishes off of one foot and is a showman more than a great fundamental player. Seemed like a bad mix from the beginning.

I agree it was a bad fit from the beginning. Jay is a tough love, very structured coach and Quinerly seems to be a more laxed, "playground" /freestyle player. But hey, kids and those around them chase the brand name more than the right fit. I'm not sure if RU is the perfect fit for him going forward either. We have a lot of chemistry working right now and he may want more spotlight and freedom than what others who have been there are willing to give.
Nigel Johnson, Pete Kiss, etc. Every time someone transfers in we get these rumors. I love Pete Kiss, and so far I love Young's enthusiasm as a teammate, but the transfer guy in basketball is like the backup QB in football. Everyone always assumes they must be better than what we already have
You take a talent like Jahvon if he wanted to come. It’s too much upside for the program if he came here and succeeded.
I don’t think anyone has anointed Young as our best player next year. But as some said he should add value and be a good defender.
