1. One Queen is better than no Ace. Queen absolutely abused us in all facets of a game. For a post player, he is extremely skilled dribbling, driving, passing, and shooting. Kid just glides around and makes it look effortless. 29 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists. Fifty scouts showed up to watch these freshmen, and Queen was the best player on the floor.

2. This was yet another example of “Rutgers can’t win unless both Ace and Dylan have good games.” Dylan had a “good” game — but didn’t hit an outside shot — while Ace was invisible because of the flu that seems to have impacted every team in the country.

3. The team showed fight in the second half, kudos to that. But you can’t win games only hitting 2 threes during the meat of the game, especially when the other team hits 10 threes.

4. In Ace’s absence, Dylan Grant really showed out with 19 points and 8 rebounds (6 offensive). Solid game from Sommerville too with 12 points and 9 rebounds, hitting several buckets to keep things close in the first half. But we just can’t win without Ace and Dylan scoring 35-40 points combined. They had 24 today.

5. Maryland plays really good defense, constantly putting on ball pressure and getting into passing lanes. They got 7 steals and caused a total of 13 turnovers. Every time we would cut into the lead, the Terps would get stops to keep us at arms length.

6. The game was basically played evenly, and the difference was Maryland hitting 10 threes to our 3 threes. That’s a 21-point difference.

7. Kevin Willard won the portal this year. Gillespie, Rice, and Miguel is a really good troika of guards who can ball and shoot. What a difference compared to Martini, Derkack, Acuff, and Hayes.

8. I would stack up Maryland’s starting five against any other team in the Big Ten, and the bench guys can all defend. Pike has to be green with envy with the roster Willard assembled, guys that can score and defend.

9. For what it’s worth, our foul shooting was really good again today, 26-31 for 84%.

10. I predicted a loss today, and the game went down about as I expected with a 9-point loss. But I can’t help but wonder if things might’ve been different had Ace Bailey been healthy. This season has been just a series of misfortunes, and our progress has been like fits and starts. So goddamn frustrating, thinking we were on the way back but then hit with yet another setback. The basketball gods are not Rutgers fans.

11. Our modified goal is still the same despite this loss. Win enough games to finish 9th to get a single bye in the BTT and then go on a magical run.

If ace was healthy we certainly may have won this game.

Too much negativity. Winning the B1G tournament is a lock for not team Winning one game is a lock for no team. A healthy RU, esp if we can get in the nine slot, is within the realm of possibility, not fantasy. We are damn good when healthy. This was a super hot Top Twenty team at home we lost to, virtually w/out Ace--and without EO who would have been a factor today.

I have to call in to question Pike over using Williams and Dirkack while Acuff sits. Tyson is a much better offensive option in a game we desperately needed some 3’s. Williams and Dirkack are nearly the same turnover prone, shot missing players.

When people say "no chance," of course they don't mean "no chance." Otherwise the'd nonchalantly give 10,000-1 0dds. I think they mean something like 1000-1. I'll be happy to cover ten $10 bets on RU winning the B1G tourney at a meager 100-1.

1000-1 is also “no chance”.

You don’t want 2000 site members to take you up on $10 on a true 1000-1.

The margin for error is small even with Bailey and Harper scoring at least 40 points. In this game the defense allowed 90 points and the offense shot 3-16 from the 3 point line.

Lost in this game is the positives out of Lathan in the low block ( he could have done more ) and Dylan Grant on the offensive glass as a bucket getter Another positive your #9 the foul shooting over 82% on high volume.
The game was lost with the amount of room our entire team but ACE and Acuff in the first half gave Maryland’s guards from the three point line. I would agree some of them were from downtown but still the casual lazy not getting up in their drill was just pathetic.
Then in the second half we make our run and cut it to 3 at 56-53 , so despite the terrible 3 point shooting , we are right there. So what do we do ? We lose them in transition and give up another 3 and then another a few minutes later. That is an adjustment that must be made.
Derrick Queen was a beast today and we had no answer as he was NBA ready today. A shame since Reese got in foul trouble and was a non factor and fouled out. Disappointing Lathan , Dylan Grant , Martini couldn’t handle him. This is where I think losing ACE was also a big deal as he was not there to help and come on blind side for a block. Frankly , would have had ACE if healthy , give it a try. But the luck and illness and injury bug just continues to hurt us.

Rather suprised at Dylan and the team today. With ACE out , I kept on thinking Dylan to going to inject bd dominate. But he deferred all day and although he had 20 points , it was a quiet 20. Plus our guys almost froze him out for large sequences and minutes of the game. As Jeremiah dominated the ball a number of possessions and then more inexplicatably Jordan just decided to attack and never pass for like 5-6 minutes. He got fouled but missed a number of shots and never once looked for Dylan. Just a weird dynamic especially since Rutgers has come almost all the way back , only down 3 from 15 earlier, where you would think they could then lean on Dylan to take us home. Eventually , we become a team with not enough IQ. Instead of driving and trying to get fouled , we do not drive and kick out for a 3. How big would it have been to hit a 3 that way during the run. Having Jordan take a wide open 3 that you knew he was missing was not the right plays to make. Found it very weird and disappointing . Despite Queen’s incredible game , the comeback could have been managed better and we might have gotten over the hump even without ACE.

Frustration is over the top.

100% agree on the 11th point.

Glad the team only lost by single digits on the road.

As bad as we feel about the season, so much better than the 45 points losses to Louisville I still remember.
