1. We lost this game because of 17 TOs, and because Dylan Harper had an off night (due in part to a rolled ankle but also because PSU did a good job taking him out of the game with the zone defense in the second half). We simply cannot afford to have one of our two stars have an off night.

2. We started off 5-11 from deep in the first half, but finished 7-21, so 2-10 in the second half.

3. Ace Bailey had another elite night on offense (30 points on a torrid 13-15 FG), but his two immature plays after dunks really set back our comeback, especially the first one. We cut the lead to 6 there, but he gets T’d up and PSU scores 4 points on the FTs and ensuing possession. Game effectively over at that point.

4. Ace Baldwin was a terror on defense with 5 steals, but he also made their offense go, with 8 assists and 22 points. His dribble penetration and passing opened things up for Konan Neiderhauser to get 7 easy buckets down low, and he went for 18 points.

5. Our supporting cast did not provide enough tonight to offset Dylan’s subpar game. Only Lathan Sommerville (12 points, 8 rebounds) and Dylan Grant (7 points, 3 rebounds) showed up in a big way. Acuff (0 points), JWill (6 points but 5 TOs), Martini (3 points), JMike (0 points), Derkack (6 points) just ineffective.

6. This is actually not a “bad loss” in a vacuum. Penn State is a good team with experienced and talented players, and this was a quad 1 road game. But it was a must win because of the hole we dug by losing to Kennesaw State and Princeton, as well as the three game losing streak during Dylan’s flu. There is ZERO margin for error, and we just can’t afford to lose difficult BUT WINNABLE games.

7. Barring a miracle finish (9-3 over the final 12), our faint NCAA hopes are over.

The TO's were killers, especially in the 1st half when RU had 1/2 foot on PSU's neck

Thought Ogbole played well on the D end, its a shame RU can't combine his D with Sommerville's O

to that point I wouldn't mind seeing Pike play them together now and then

Need more minutes from Grant, he crashes the boards well

Felt like Derkack got too many minutes

Grant not enough

The supporting cast just wasn't good enough tonight. JWill dissapointing....not sure why I'm picking on him but Im so sick of the sloppy turnovers

Our hopes ended the minute we thought it was smart to schedule Princeton. That game skewered our NCAA tournament hopes. But hey, it was like 1960 in the Prudential center for those 2 hours!
8. Failing to call a timeout when Penn state was on - run.
9. Pike failing to rein in Jermiah - the captain.
10. Martini being martini.
1.1. Ace’s first and second technicals.

Let’s let it play out. We aren’t winning every road game . I’d rather beat Michigan state if I had to choose . Beat MSU and then a shot another winnable road game at NU.

Turning points of game were :

- Taking Ace out at 9 minute mark of 2nd half up 3 which then became 11-0 PSU run.

- Ace technicals

- Up 3 in 2nd half and Martino missing badly on a 25 footer

- Dylan injury.

- Too many non contributors primarily Acuff

They ended long before that. Look back to the summer and our roster construction. The Princeton game was simply confirmation of our roster problems. Be fair.

Ace can’t play only 30 minutes in a game where he is shooting 80%. I get he had some fouls but come on. Also Dylan grant should have played more minutes. Penn state isn’t that good. Nebraska is better.
Not sure about Nebraska being better . Nebraska has lost several games badly in big ten . They have 1 notable win over ucla . Penn state has beaten Purdue . They also nearly beat Oregon without ace Baldwin

Almost nothing from the "others"

Ace has exceptional talent but is dumb.

Well into second half, a three-point lead and the ball ...turnover
Then a three-point lead and the ball...missed long three
Then dug a hole too large to climb out.

All true, but can’t help thinking that this team is just simply snakebit. I really believe they win if Dylan Harper doesn’t sprain his ankle he had nothing in the second half. Yes this team is not well constructed but with a healthy doing Harper we probably have two or three more wins and around the bubble..

Never seen a basketball player slip and slide on the court like Jeremiah does, in 30+ years of watching the sport.

Are they rubbing motor oil on his shoes pregame?

Ace only had 6 shots in the 1st half. Too many other poor shooters were taking shots early in the shot clock and before Bailey had a touch.

Bailey's shot looked PURE tonight. 15 shots feels like a crime.

Can’t help thinking that this team is just simply mediocre and a .500 team. Just like last year.

Turnovers, Dylan hurt, PSU shot well from 3

Grant should have played more. For some reason we decide to press and have Martini in and nor Grant which is wild. Questionable subbing and lineup combinations at times

Ace was incredible and we should have forced the ball to him relentlessly... but those techs were brutal

Need Dylan and Ace every single game. Only one delivering just isn't enough sadly

Just not enough even serviceable players to form a team unfortunately. Our two captains have been an epic letdown. JMike is also a monster liability on the court, particularly when ball in his hands.

There are 3 perimeter players to the eye are hurting us defensively this year. Team defensive efficiency when on the floor (and off it)show it too.

Hayes, Derkack and Acuff

Derkack will make defensive plays, but unfortunately they are ALWAYS along with getting out late or just not getting out on shooters, getting destroyed off the dribble, or getting beat off the ball with his man making cut and Derkack slow to react.

All of these things were on display last night.

I am so done with him on D. Forgot about pump faking wide open 3s (that you are happy he isn't actually shooting).

I would be totally fine reducing this rotation

Harper 34
Ace 34
JWill 24
JMike 24
Grant 24
Martini 20
Sommerbole 40
