I am curious why he never got into coaching. I think he does pre and post game shows for the Jets which probably does not pay what a college coach gets.

I would think he would be a good fit somewhere initially as a QB coach and eventually as an OC or Head coach.

Those who can't do teach and he's a doer. He would have had a long NFL career if he played in this day and age.

I think not. Honestly he's lucky to have a job as a radio announcer. We started a drinking game while listening to WCTC play by play of him and Carlin. Do a shot every time he mentions Bill Parcell's name. Luckily with the team doing so badly we never made it to the end of the game because we all passed out drunk.

Or, take a shot every time he says "These are the worst refs I have ever seen".
You won't make it to the second half.

Would Ray's well publicized injury/health issues allow him to withstand the daily grind or are they behind him? Does he still have problems just getting around day to day?

Didn't we just do the unproven explayer as coach for Basketball? I'll pass.

My sons and I used to do this for away games on the car radio.

Although we picked how many times he says "Absolutely!" instead. LOL

And Ray, if you read this we love you. Keep doing what you're doing.

So he mentioned Parcells 3 times

Ray is 100% Rutgers homer on the radio and I for one love it.

His call on the fumble return for a TD by the D-Lineman this year was truly a golden moment. Carlin is breathless trying to describe the rumblin' and stumblin' towards the endzone. Ray's contribution as the kid crosses the 5 headed to the goal line: "Blarrrrrrrrgh!"

It was awesome and me and my boys laughed for a solid 10 minutes on the ride home after yet another loss.

Higgins was better.

Higgins was better.

Was a student who was dumb enough to pay for premium sideline student season tickets during the Fortay/Lucas era.

We were merciless on poor Ray in particular when he would eff up.

Didn't help his cause that my roommate was dating a girl from Harrison at the time who swore Ray was the second coming and we would all be sorry. I remember laughing the loudest when she said he would be an NFL QB.

One of many memories from back then was watching Ray throw an ill-advised interception and hearing one of the RU faithful in the stands yell: "Put in the white guy."
BTW, I think, as I recall, said fan was wearing a "Make America Great Again" T-shirt.

Lol! Yeah, Ray's a character in his own Jersey guy, RU homer kinda way.

Don't change a thing, Ray! Love how you represent!

I love the way LeGrande gets right to the point when we keep running the same play that keeps getting stuffed.

"Every time we put the slot back in motion the linebacker moves outside the defensive end and we can't block him, don't run that play anymore"

What a douchey way to inject politics into this thread.

I finally got around to reading Ray's book a few weeks ago.I was pleased to see that he included pictures of three of my nephews with him.I was relieved to see that he did not mention me as the source who bought him and the gang beer when he was the Harrison QB.

Ray was helping out the girls' basketball coach here when one of his daughters was on the team.I don't know if he's still doing that, though.

As far as his announcing goes, none of us any longer attempt to "improve" him, letting Ray be Ray.

I also think Ray represents RU pretty well on the Big Ten Network.

I'm just glad he's not this guy. (yeesh!)
I remember this (from the link) part of the story...

"The school began a program-wide investigation last month after an equipment manager discovered documents inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium -- one day before Wake Forest's Nov. 12 football game in Louisville -- that showed specific Demon Deacons plays."

Ray's great....love the way, he willed himself into the league.....threw 4 TD's verses Giants as Jet QB and still lost the game!

Yeah, and Ray made it to the NFL when he was a real trailblazer. RU guys in the League were as scarce as hens' teeth back then.
Thank you, Greg Schiano
