Ray Rice hasn't been picked up yet

And Fassett who was there confirmed that Lewis had no part of the fight.
I'm not defending Lewis was a nice guy but when we get brain dead people saying Lewis "killed 2 guys" they need to be called out.

When first questioned right after the murder in January , Fassett ( who was at the scene ) claimed he seen Lewis fighting.
By the time it went to trial in May Fassett changed his story and the prosecution made a deal with Lewis to drop the Murder charge
and only prosecute him for a far lesser charge obstruction of justice, if he testified against his two friends.
Without Fassett's testimony the Murder case against Lewis was ruined and the chance of proving Ray Lewis was physically involved was nil.
But at first Facett's testimony ,if he stuck with what he first told the police, could have put Lewis in the middle of the murder, without that testimony no one could prove Lewis didn't leave the limo and wasn't involved.
So the question is: was Fassett telling the truth at first, or was scared and made up a lie involving Lewis but told the truth when it came time for him to testify.

As far as I'm concerned it's not as cut and dry as some make it, but there's no proof that my opinion he was involved ,in some way , is valid.
I can be told I'm wrong, but this case has a lot of uncertainty surrounding it, no matter how you look at it.

I don't think you understand how plea bargains work.

Rice's actions have a lot less to do with him not playing than his performance the past three season.

Three seasons only if you count not playing last year. He started a slight downward slide in 2012 and fumbled three times in the playoffs that season while rushing for 59 yards on 20 carries in the Super Bowl win over the 49ers. In 2013 he rushed for a little over 600 yards.

You could also make a case for his age being a factor as well. Teams would have no issue signing Rice and taking a PR hit if they knew he could be THE GUY at RB. But given a full year away from the game and the season and a half that proceeded that year off, can you have confidence a 28 year old RB can return to form? Careers for RBs in the NFL are not long. Only 4 of the top 31 single season rushing yards leaders in NFL history has been by backs 28 years or older (Barry Sanders, Shaun Alexander, Tiki Barber, and OJ Simpson) and only 17 of the top 100 were turned in by backs 28 or older.

Why are people on this thread so vehemently defending Ray Lewis????? Pretty weird, if you ask me.

Lets assume Ray Lewis's innocence (just to appease the people on here who obviously know for a fact he never killed a guy). In the same division you've got a guy who raped a woman in a bathroom (Rocketburger) and a guy who was involved in a very serious cocaine brokering (Jamal Lewis). Both those guys went onto have full careers. Ray can still be a very productive third down back, at a minimum

This goes back to the point that all those happened in a different era. Seems that at this point social media has evolved into a reliable forum for everyone and their mother to both legitimately raise concerns, overreact, or troll and get anybody to feel the heat.

People mention his yards per carry. His backup Pierce only averaged like 3.2 a carry. maybe his line was horrible.

He had 1 bad year, but his backup seemed to do as good a job if not better. If anything I'm just butthurt that I had Ray on my fantasy team the year he decided to regress. I believe he has something left in the tank, but I think most front offices are ready to throw in the towel too easy these days when it comes to the RB position.

Yes - and would you as a GM be willing to take the PR hit for a potentially productive third down back? I wouldnt.

Depends. Am I the Dan Snyder / Al Davis type or am I the Bob Kraft / Paul Allen type? Would depend on how bad my roster was, but I'd at least bring him in to compete. If Tebow mania can happen, why not the Ray Rice humble tour?

I think the fans would accept Aaron Hernandez back before they would Ray. I don't even see much resistance if Hernandez were released and signed to a team again, not even joking.

Rice might get a chance if a team has problems with their RB depth because of injuries and needs to fill a hole in their depth chart.
Even if he signs for minimum veteran salary ($870,000), his salary cap hit for the team that signs him would be around $585,000.
So I don't think money would hold teams back from signing him, but the PR hit might along with the thought that his tank is close to empty.

I look for Ray to get his chance during the season , not before.
