2-6 weeks in cast. May take up to 3 months for full usage of hand.

Could require surgery

Pike did not sound optimistic on interview when he said “ I hope we get him back”

I hate injuries. Especially long term injuries. Especially to my team. Especially to a terrific player and great guy!

Hope we luck out with Geo!

I hope you’re right. Who said 3-4 weeks? Did Carrino say that? I’d do cartwheels if that’s the case.
The junior is out indefinitely with a left thumb injury, the school announced prior to Friday’s tip at Nebraska. Baker’s left, non-shooting hand is in a cast and he is expected to miss at least three weeks, probably about a month with a broken bone in his thumb, Gannett New Jersey has learned.

Thanks.

Was there confirmation somewhere that's it's a definite break and not a sprain?
Another excellent point. Thought I read that it was broken but probably speculation from a poster. I’m the ultimate paranoid Rutgers fan. Lol. And a mets fan. Lol

Bones heal in 6 weeks. Depends how bad it is but rehab shouldn't take too long. Especially if it's his non dominant hand.

The way these athletes heal nowadays you can’t take traditional timelines for us peasants and relate to D1 and Pro Sport athletes

I broke a pinky clean in two near the last knuckle toward the tip and I played hockey 2 1/2 weeks later...but couldn’t bend it at all.

Here we go again. I saw Geo get up off the bench during the game with his thumb either wrapped or just finger in cast.
His whole hand wasn't in a cast or anything close. People need to get the facts straight and stop the speculation.

That's how they cast you if you have a broken thumb.

and that sounds like it was worse than his injury. I do recognize basketball is much different. He can play with pain in that finger but needs it to be dull enough to not effect the shot

Phil - are you guessing here or did you read something to this effect? If it's the former, at least state that it's your speculation and not something you heard from the staff. I've had a broken thumb and was back playing soccer (goalie, where the thumb matters) within 4 weeks and I'm old (I even finished the game I was in).

That’s why I’m thinking more than broken bone. I have no knowledge of this situation but know from personal experience bones heal quicker than ligaments.
