The young ref enjoys harassing us. Has a smirk on his face as well. I yell at him every time I can. He called sanders for charging vs nebraska

Same old shit. Going to keep getting it until Pikell & Hobbs explode. They owe it to their players.

I just didn't see it so bad. There's always a few but I didn't think anywhere as bad as usual. Maybe I'm in the minority here. 8 of those shots were in fouling mode.

I did see like get more into a few calls though..good for him.

Watched the replay several times.

In the 1st half when Geo shot a 3 with 5 seconds on the shot clock that missed the rim and Sa secured the rebound, and the refs went to monitor and said shot clock violation...

1) Geo was hit on the elbow, which caused the misfire
I saw Geo point to his elbow as the shot headed towards the basket, and sure enough, he was correct.
That is a potential 3 additional points we lost.

2) How could they say shot clock violation? No way 5 seconds expired.

Just a horrible job by the refs on that play.

I would say there were times when we got the benefit of the doubt on some calls (like when Corey drove on a bucket and I don’t think there was much if any contact; however, that is usually called against us when we just breathe on a player driving to the hoop on a breakaway).

But no doubt - we got shafted many times with bad or no calls, especially in the 1st half.

A game as close as this, even ONE extra call/no call easily changes the game’s result.

That shot clock violation was the weirdest thing. Setting aside the missed foul call for a moment... Sa gets a rebound, turns toward the basket, sees that he has a new shot clock and dribbles it out. The refs go to the monitor to see if the shot hit rim - it didn't, so they say that Sa committed a shot clock violation turnover by not shooting. But why would he shoot if he saw the clock had 25+ seconds on it?

It was basically an error by the crew that resulted in an RU turnover. I was really expecting them to give RU the ball with the shot clock reset to 4 seconds.

I noticed that. That’s a god awful call by the refs. I have no clue why they didn’t put time back on the clock and have us in bound it. That doesn’t make sense and I’m almost positive you’re not supposed to rule it that way.

I should edit my comments to admit I'd wasn't able to focus on the first half because I was on a phone call..so if that is where things were really bad, I must have missed that. My overall comments were based on being able to really watch the 2nd half.

I remember one drive early on where the Purdue player started beyond the top of the key and took three huge steps in for a layup... was amazed that wasn't called for a travel, but it gave me a sense of how things were going to play out.

I am one of those people who thinks Rutgers has been getting screwed by refs for decades. Suffering other teams getting the home field/court advantage and getting none ourselves.. being fodder for the "name" teams in the various conferences we have been in.

While there were some misses yesterday, I actually think that was not one of the more egregious examples of refs treatment of Rutgers. Example: hanging on the rim was NOT called both ways. If they "missed" 10 foul calls against Purdue they "missed" 5 or 6 against us.

I cannot recall a game where Rutgers seemed to have the calls advantage. Maybe way way way back when we played an over-aggressive Providence team with a coach the refs hated. I think they ended up with 34 calls against.. all well-earned.

We used to hear that, "Well, Rutgers settles for too many outside shots to get the calls and free-throws."

Not true this year and still we end up on the wrong side of that statistic.

We used to hear about better athletes the other side has.. Corey Sanders is probably the most athletic player on the court most of the games and still he gets abused with non-calls. Then you got the mouthy or misbehaving angle.. only recently have I seen out players showing their disagreement with refs calls.. playing "nice" hasn't helped one bit.

Maybe this is still part of "paying our dues" to the Big Ten.. but experience with the Big East showed me that the "new guy" thing is something that never went away. Thanks Higgins, Valentine, etc.

I don’t disagree with you on the misses going both ways. However, there was some egregious no calls at important times. The Haas no call travel that turned into an RU foul was terrible. I’m still waiting for him to dribble to basketball. He traveled all game. I actually thought Bullock fouledthe kid on Corey’s three. Bullock and Geo were both fouled on three pointers and one of our big men was hit in the face on an offensive rebound that caused him to fall and shot clock violation.

Absolutely bad calls both ways last night. No it was not the most egregious we've seen. Yes, it impacted the outcome of the game, at least in mind.

Happen's in women's soccer all the time. Costs us games. Our AD & coaches have to raise holly hell or we'll just keep getting shafted.

On the other hand, the 3 second violation against Purdue was a bad call too.
true.. that ref must have taken his eye off him for a second.. because he popped out and back in real fast. Then again, maybe he had 3 seconds before he left? That's now what was called, I don't think. Maybe the ref took his eye off to check the shot clock as his 3 second test.

The Geo getting hacked on 3 pt shot that doesn’t hit the rim no call that winds up being reviewed and confirms Geo getting whacked but instead is called a shot clock violation was absolutely brutal. Geo should have gotten three shots at the foul line and have no doubts those refs saw it crystal clear on their review for a shot clock violation.

The Bullock foul on Corey’s 3 point make turned into 2 pts on the charity stripe for Pur but loved Bullock’s physicality under the basket after he completely trucked that kid. If Bullock loses 20-25 lbs for next season that kid will help this team at the end of the bench next season.
