Didn’t like the calls both ways. Way too many soft fouls called.

But man how the hell did they miss that double dribble with 3 seconds left.

Clear as day and all Rutgers players saw it.

Pathetic, pathetic and total bs missed call.

Also funny how Rose called out the double dribble and potential travel and was eager to see the replay.

And no replay from Peacock, despite ample time to show a replay.
Was clear to see on the replay - we got effed on that play and in general tonight. I'm not one to complain much about refs, but this game was pretty even with regard to physicality, IMO, so I don't think there should've been a 23-15/32-18 disparity in fouls and FTs. So, so many touch fouls on us (and a few on them too, but way more on us).

It was Dylan’s lackadaisical defense . No urgency The kid can do that for some reason at times, I don’t get it…

Yes it was bad defense but this thread is about the $hitty corrupt refs.

Dylan’s defense doesn’t need to happen if they called either the double dribble (100%) or travel (I believe but not 100% on this one) that happened within seconds in front of their eyes.

Or they didn’t call multiple bs cylinder calls that are almost never called.

Counterpoint: they would've called an offensive foul on the inbounds and Michigan would've won on FTs.

The disparity of fouls was very similar to the Texas A&M screw job out in Vegas, fouls in that game were 29 Rutgers, 19 for A&M, free throws Rutgers 17, A&M 42 free throws. Similar type of disparity tonight. If we had beaten A&M and Michigan, we’re 16-13 and on the bubble for sure with those 2 high quality wins.

First game this season that I’ve had a major gripe with refs. Let’s not forget both cylinder fouls would have resulted in UM turnovers if not called. The travel and the double dribble were clear as day on the final possession. The foul on Acuff at the end was absolutely a foul, he had no where to land but other than that RU was not getting the same whistle in the second half. They went downhill hard a few times and drew contact with no call. Just bad. The cylinder call has been called two times all big ten season, both in this game. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Complete bail out.

Cylinder calls for defenders standing their ground as the offensive player moves into them is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen.

And how can a ref miss a travel call where the ball handler loses his balance and his pivot foot comes up 8 inches into the air?!?!

That’s not even mentioning the countless awful touch fouls called on Rutgers but not on Michigan.

Yet another screw job against the Scarlet Knights.

I guess a double dribble or travel can't be reviewed in the last two minutes?

It’s insane. Both times guys picked up their dribble with their back to the defender and the basket. I genuinely don’t understand what else Martini and Harper are supposed to do there.

You are correct about the travel and double dribble 👍

I didn't see the game. Who were the refs, the typical shitty refs who usually suck against us?

Most PFs by Rutgers(24-25) vs FT attempts,

(77-81) RU 29 TA&M 19(-10) RU 15-17 T&AM 31-42 (-25)
(81-90) RU 27 @ MD 22(-5) RU 26-31 MD 22-34 (-3)
(90-95). RU 26 Bama 29(+3) RU 18-25 Bama 25-36 (-11)
(72-80) RU 24 @ PSU 14(-10) RU 11-14 PSU 22-27 (-13)
(82-84) RU 23 @ Mich 15(-8) RU 13-18 Mich 21-32 (-14)

(74-84) RU 21 @ Ind 21(0) RU 14-23 Ind 16-25 (-2)
(85-82) RU 20 @ Neb 15(-5) RU 7-14 Neb 17-27 (-13)
(74-81) RU 20 MSU 19(-1) RU 19-25 Mich St 22-26 (-1)
(77-79) RU 19 Kenn 21(+2) RU 17-23 Kenn St 15-24 (-1)
(50-68) RU 18 Purd 17(-1) RU 9-11 Purd 8-16 (-5)

1-9, It's amazing we won the Nebraska game despite the calls, 13-6 all other games

The 1st Mich game,
(63-66) RU 14 Mich 17(+3) RU 9-13 Mich. 15-21 (-8)

We get a fair whistle vs. TA&M, Bama, Penn St and Mich, pull out Princeton and Kenn St is the difference being 20-9 and 14-15.

We might get a 5 second violation or turnover during the inbound play if called anyway.

If we don't shoot 25% in the second half while continuing to play little defense the refs would have had no role to play.

You realize it can be both?

It’s entirely possible that ALL of the following occurred (and more)

  • Pike shit the bed in many ways
  • Our defense sucked all game
  • We missed many wide open shots in the second half AND
  • The refs did not call an even game and missed two obvious traveling violations in the last few seconds which directly affected the game
These are not mutually exclusive things . You understand that?

Can't blame this loss on the refs

Yes the officiating was piss poor but the refs didn't shoot 2 of 17 for a long stretch of the 2nd Half

The shot selection in the 2nd Half was terrible (Lathan & J-Will shouldn't be shooting from beyond mid-range)
Why do you call yourself rutgershoopsinsider despite clearly just being a random guy?

Also Pikiell tinkered with the rotations in the 2nd Half a little too much. Why Manny Ogbole was in the 2nd Half blows my mind. It's clear he's not "game" ready since coming back from the surgery. He missed a point blank layup near the rim. What was the result? Michigan rebounded the ball and he fouled Goldin immediately. That's when things really started to snowball against Rutgers.

Here is what you are missing. 1-3 are such significant season-long issues that your 4th complaint doesn't even register as a factor to most normal observers. The alternate reality excuse making is pathetic. We are just not good.

During the second half drought it seems we did not get into our O until late in the shock clock
too many times. (Based on the radio call). They called out an 0 for 12 stretch.

Don’t disagree.

There were many reasons we lost

But when ONE of those reasons is an outside source that is supposed to be neutral and fair (officiating) - I find that particularly frustrating

Those no calls at the end changed the narrative in this way:

If they had called the obvious walks in that last possession we would have won and the discussion here would be how we got away with a great Q1 road win DESPITE a piss poor effort in the second half and some lopsided officiating

But by not calling those obvious walks ~ that occurred in plain view of an official BTW - we are having this discussion instead

The poor officiating DIRECTLY affected the outcome . When refs miss an OBVIOUS violation on the last possession like that they are 100% affecting the outcome. It is unfathomabke to me how anyone can say otherwise. It was absolutely not the only reason we lost, but it absolutely was ONE of the reasons

and despite that if the ref called either the walk or double dribble correctly we would have won.

“Atlernative reality excuse making”

Um, ok

I acknowledge ALL of the criticisms of pike this season (poor roster construction, not playing the other fresh earlier, substitution and TO patterns, etc etc etc)

Doesn’t change the fact that refs somehow missed two BLATANT walks on that last possession

Saying otherwise is “alternative reality”

if my aunt had balls.....honestly not trying to be an ass, but do you really think the refs are our problem? I see so many MAJOR issues that have impacted our season before officiating. And if you think officiating is the reason we dont make the tournament (or even plays a factor), please lay that out for me. If not, stop the bitching and moaning, because you just proved it isnt overly relevant.

These threads never take off when we win a close one with some friendly officiating. In fact, if it’s even mentioned, it’s discouraged.

That dynamic seems to be the only reason I see some people pushing back.

Refs impact games. It’s indisputable. Overall, the officiating was fine last night. The travel at the end was missed.
