Rossi

He's in the deep end of the pool now. Usually there is a test from going from the shallow end or kiddy pool into the deep end. This is one of the "corners we cut." Hopefully he'll be re-tested at some time by an RU lifeguard. Pretty sure he stays in the kiddy pool.
Might be an ok FCS DC or Div 3 or HS coach.
Can somebody please fire him. Don't know who at this time Julie, suspended coach Flood, whacko Wilson? In the interim, can the RU PD who don't have any post-game duties please escort him off campus?

I'm sure Rossi is a capable coach but not as DC.....make him a LB coach or something like that - and he'll be fine.

Remember that he wasn't hired as DC - but was promoted to the job by HC Flood.

Because we wouldn't spend the money for an established one.

We would have gotten Robb Smith with more money. Instead of Arkansas taking him.
Not true. This is why you struggle here. You get an idea in your head and don't listen to logic. We offered him money but he always wanted the Arky job. He felt Flood was a liability and Bret was safe. Maybe they both get fired at the same time.

I didn't think he was the problem to be quite honest. Defense was on the field for almost the entire first half. Kids got tired. And by the way, the secondary he spent the last two years developing is in prison. I kind of feel for Rossi.

You can be a schematic genius, but if you don't have the players it won't matter.

I love our student athletes, but Bill Belichick himself would struggle with our current defensive roster.

Chip Kelly is 0-2 and his offense produced a total of THREE points last night.

That's why it's imperative that we bring in a guy who can recruit #1. The Xs & Os can sort themselves out later.

The sad part is that TEMPLE showed the way to attack PSU.The Blueprint was there. All He had to do was implement the plan.

Shift: I know, I was being facetious.

My comment re: the defense was just a few posts prior. Basically, scheme can only do so much -- you need the players. Even if we ran a defense identical to Temple, we don't have their front 4.

Did any of you watch that game Saturday in state college?

We did dial up lots of blitzes (where were you against wassu)...but penn state ran the west va spread against us (think RRod) and hardly threw more than past the LOS all day

We really needed to change out defensive game plan on the fly to sit more to defend the option and wide receiver screens....and then force pressure when we knew they has to throw

You can't fault Rossi for not blitzing Saturday night. We were getting there with the blitz Bedause hack got rid of it quick

What you can fault Rossi is not adjusting the gameplan

Yea right. Put our Freshman corners in man coverage with a single high safety? LOL!
The score would have been 60-3.

Rossi didn't appear to to be the main problem Saturday because Penn State has a garbage offense and our own offensive struggles overshadowed his ineptitude.

PSU knew we can't defend anything, but they can't pass/pass bock a lick to take advantage in the air even against our horrible secondary, so they ran and ran and and their minimal passing game mimicked the run. It was a common sense game plan.

Wait until we face competent offenses again. We will all remember quite clearly why Rossi stinks. How many historical negative defensive records against RU will we break under this guy?

Yeah, I know you were. What a terrible performance on offense. Wonder if Rettig would have made any difference if he stretched the field.

It's not the coach. We just don't have the players. When the DLine gets ushed around like ours did on Saturday night, coach can't do much.
