Football Announces $100,000 Kickoff Return Contest
RU students can receive share of prize if Scarlet Knights return first kickoff for touchdown during home opener
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Aug. 25, 2016) – For the second-straight season, Rutgers students who attend the Scarlet Knights’ home opener against Howard on Sept. 10 will have an opportunity to win a share of $100,000. If Rutgers football returns its opening kickoff for a touchdown against the Bison, 100 students will win $1,000 each in the contest presented by Autoland.
Students who download their free ticket on the Rutgers website and attend the game will automatically be registered for the contest. If Rutgers returns the opening kickoff for a touchdown, 100 students will be randomly selected for their share ($1,000) of the $100,000 jackpot. New Jersey residents may also enter for a chance at a share of the jackpot by submitting an email to RutgersKickoff@mdmgames.com. Click here for more information on the contest. The last time Rutgers returned its opening kickoff of a game for a touchdown was in the 2013 opener at Fresno State, when Janarion Grant ran back 100 yards on his first collegiate touch. A 2015 Second Team All-Big Ten selection, Grant produced a school-record 984 kickoff return yards along with three return touchdowns last fall.
