You have to dig into those numbers a little deeper.

Three of the UVA/NJ players came out of Lawrenceville Prep. In fact, it looks like 35-40% of their roster are prep school kids. Then realize UVA, along with UNC, has always been a destination school for prep school kids who fall a little short of Ivy/Duke/Stanford. Haverford Prep is represented as well, and it's one of the top HS programs in the country,

In contrast, the PSU/NJ kids are public school kids. However, in contrast to RU, they have six kids (including Ament) who are coming from the InterAc Prep School League from suburban Philly. Haverford Prep, Malvern Prep, Chestnut Hill and Episcopal.

So the question is, how can RU keep a higher percentage on NJ prep school (Delbarton/Lawrenceville) kids in-state? And how can a fence be put in place for the public school kids?

Improved facilities should help.

Look at the number of NJ prep school kids on Villanova but they also have two Summit kids and two Westfield kids

If we win it does not matter where they hail from. Amen.
Agree.

Was answering another poster on what might help open the eyes of some of the NJ areas.

We haven’t done the capital W version yet.

Lots of great players on LI who would be happy to play on the Banks.

Some kids and parents just want to be anywhere else. I know one parent who would not even let there son consider Rutgers. Unfortunately no amount of shiny new toys will bring these players to our school.

It's not going to be solved on a lacrosse message board, but how can this be changed? it's almost unique among flagship state universities. And I don't mean to the degree of UT (the old joke, "Your going to Harvard? Didn't you get into UT Austin?") just to the degree if other Big 10 schools or of the old Big East schools.

Winning will help to some extent but for some people Rutgers, and New Brunswick in general, is a completely different world socially than they have been exposed to or want to be exposed to.

NJ has great high school lacrosse. As good as anywhere now. It will always be the base of our team, but the staff wants kids from everywhere. They believe different regions bring different things to the program. I tend to agree.

That said, NJ lacrosse is spreading beyond the traditional powers, although they are clearly producing a lot of talent. As the talent level rises to throughout the other areas of the state, so too will the options that Rutgers has.

Rutgers isn't for everyone, but is definitely for some. Just like any school to some degree or another.

We many never get all the studs from Delbarton, but we don't need to. It would be nice, but there are other ways. The new facility should help a bit, but the real win is what it will do for the kids in the program. It's no coincidence basketball is having a great season. There are a lot of reasons, but I bet that new facility has been huge for the kids development.

get good lids that want to be there and combine it with great coaching and you will be successful.

You are exactly right, it's pretty evident !

I'm still convinced we could win a national championship and certain kids will still have no interest in coming to Rutgers.
got that right.....sad saying that.....it's just years , and years of neglect concerning athletics....maybe we start turning the corner with the return of schiano 2.0
