Bats have awakened and weekend starters are in a nice groove. Keep it going. Avoid having to go too far into the bullpen. Gorski seems somewhat reliable other than some wildness. The rest of the folks don't inspire confidence.
They pretty much have to win out in the regular season and even that wouldn’t be enough.
Very disappointing against teams in series that matter this year
The all time issue has always been the inability to consistently keep top NJ pitchers home. Now that may change sooner than later but thus far we have only made a small dent. I’m still an advocate on pitchers from California or Texas but the all Rutgers lament is they won’t come here. UConn has had remarkable success in going out of this northeast area for a number of years. There are only so many quality types available so it comes down to the old adage what came first? Pitching wins games as does small ball and the ability to generate runs when those HR guys can’t produce. I love the long ball as do many of us but Owens who I have never spoken to is a very good coach. Coach Hill who I knew from the age of 8-9 years old and played against his teams always liked to create offense. A very astute coach who always had time to be both teacher, coach and friend.
I live in southwest Florida and catch a game or two at FGCU each year, especially when Rutgers visited in years past.
Worth noting that three former FGCU pitchers broke Spring training camp this season on the opening day roster of the Boston Red Sox. Lefties Richard Bleier and Chris Sale, and righty Kutter Crawford.
Pretty impressive.
I wish I was writing this and making the same claim for Rutgers.
